Production Supervisor

Orwell, OH

Shift: 3rd, 11:00PM – 7:00AM

 

Overview:

  1. This position provides direct supervision for up to 40 hourly production employees.
  1. Maintains work schedules of employees to ensure proper coverage to meet customer and business demand.
  1. Administers Management-based Safety and Environmental Health and Safety activities.
  1. Identifies and monitors performance indicators, measuring actual vs. planned.
  1. Plans, maintains, and communicates production requirements while providing direction and guidance to employees to achieve planned objectives.
  1. Ensures that employees are properly trained and have the necessary resources to meet safety, quality and productivity standards and goals.
  1. Ensures adherence of all employees to company and plant procedures.
  1. Builds a performance-driven culture through utilization of performance measurement systems, Lean Principles, and employee recognition.
  1. Drives continuous improvement.    

 

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  1. Ensure adherence to plant environmental, safety and health guidelines and regulations, and foster commitment and daily engagement across the shop floor.
  1. Ensure quality control plans are followed in all operations.
  1. Lead daily lead board communications.
  1. Manage daily time and attendance in ADP.
  1. Proactively builds cross-functional work teams.
  1. Maintain positive working relationships with engineering, maintenance, materials management, other departments, and shifts.
  1. Drive continuous improvement behaviors on the manufacturing floor and achieve operations KPI goals related to safety, quality, delivery, customer satisfaction, employee engagement and cost.  Ensure compliance with established quality standards.
  1. Proactively manage talent in the manufacturing hourly team and supervisors.  Support direct report team members by conducting performance reviews, providing coaching, enabling effective training, and maintaining a regular presence on all shop floor areas.
  1. Operate as a role model who embraces the Kennametal Cultural Beliefs and inspires others to do the same.

 

 

Position Requirements:

 

  1. Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. 
  1. Strong organizational, interpersonal, hands-on problem-solving skills, and experience working effectively with cross-functional teams.  Working knowledge and success in using Lean/Six Sigma™ tools to drive continuous improvement with manufacturing team members throughout the shop floor. 
  1. Strong experience with leading the hourly shop floor team to operate safely, proactively identify improvements and support implementation.
  1. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, set priorities, identify and resolve problems, and meet deadlines.
  1. SAP experience preferred.
  1. Strong computer literacy is required, including MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).
  1. Demonstrated ability to engage and inspire team members and effectively manage personnel matters.
  1. Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
