An excellent opportunity has become available to join Kennametal as a Product Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing technical and commercial tooling solutions for Kennametal’s portfolio of cutting-edge cutting tool products, that are highly regarded as the industry’s most complete product line.

 

The Product Engineer will develop proposals and recommend tooling solutions for the industry’s most diverse and in-demand products from milling cutters, carbide inserts, to solid carbide drills, tool holders and so much more.

 

The Product Engineer will work with our key customers in Transportation, Aerospace, General Engineering and Heavy-Duty Industries providing, Technical Project Management, concept engineering and pricing for Custom tooling solutions that deliver and enhance manufacturing and production capacity.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Developing of new, innovative tooling solutions together with the customer and the machine tool builder
  • Developing of Cost per Part - Analysis and optimization of manufacturing processes
  • Quote sketches / process studies supported
  • Consulting details regarding preparation of the offers and quotations together with Sales Engineers or directly with customers.
  • Visits at customer’s site in order to conduct the complicated and detailed reconciliations and / or present / explain to solution tocustomer. Presentation skills are important.
  • Timely realization of the tasks determined in the PPM.
  • Support for customers and Sales Engineers in explaining technical details connected with usage and design of the tools.
  • Support during runoff of the delivered tools to customer (by phone or when needed at customer’s side)
  • Create documentation and archive in accordance to company procedures.
  • Communication with suppliers (Technical and commercial, follow the job which was ordered to them)

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Mechanical Engineering background with at least 2 years’ experience in an industrial environment
  • Practical experience in usage of cutting tools in the Auto & Aero and General Engineering Industry is an asset
  • Good computer skills - MS Office, AutoCAD / NX / SAP and CAM
  • Proficiency with MS Office in Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Excellent command of the English language.
