Program Overview

The Finance Leadership Program (FLP) is a 36-month program designed to expose team members to various functions within the Finance organization at Kennametal, including internal audit, corporate accounting, tax and treasury, and operational finance. Through training, a mentorship by a member of the Finance Leadership Team, the experience of travelling both domestically and internationally on project assignments, and collaborating on special projects in addition to day-to-day responsibilities, the program participant develops function-specific and leadership competencies and is better-prepared to advance his or her career within the organization.

Successful candidates will be invited to our Latrobe, PA, office Good for an assessment event.  Candidates will participate in 1:1 interviews, complete a written exercise and presentation, attend a tour of our Technology Center, and more.  The planned start date for two associates into the Finance Leadership Program will be Spring 2019.

 

  • The program consists of three, 12 month rotations, with one possible domestic relocation.
  • Post completion of program, placement will be into a role within a Finance function.  This will be based on the team member’s strengths and interests, as well as business need at that time.
  • Additional leadership and function-specific training is included during the program.
  • Some of the functional competencies covered during the rotations include:
  • Market Risk
  • Pricing Decisions
  • Cash Management
  • Corporate Strategy 
  • Compliance
  • Corporate Accounting
  • Manufacturing / Cost Accounting
  • Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A)

 

Requirements

 

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting; Master’s Degree, MBA, or certification (CPA, CFA, CMA, etc.), preferred
  • Relevant internship experience
  • 3.0 or higher GPA in area of study
  • Long-term ambition and potential to advance through the organization and to attain a leadership-level position
  • Demonstrated leadership ability of motivating and engaging others
  • Strong organization, facilitation, presentation, project management and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally for project assignments & to relocate during and after the program
