Job Title - Metrology Engineer

Location:  Latrobe, PA


Job Description – Requirements


Minimum of Bachelor degree with >3 years or graduate degree with 1-3 years of analytical experience required in Metrology, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Applied Statistics or related field. Practical experience with tactile and optical metrology equipment is required. Knowledge of geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and direct experience with instrumentation design and maintenance, statistical analysis and project management is desired. Knowledge of 3D modelling and/or CAD/CAM software is a plus. Experience with measurement automation and systems design is preferred. Effective verbal/written communication aptitude is required, as are excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.

The successful candidate must demonstrate effective verbal/written communications skills and show an ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment with a diverse group of engineers, scientists and manufacturing personnel. Time management and prioritization skills are critical.  Applicant should possess a desire to join an extended team of scientists and engineers in a growth-oriented environment.


Job Description – Tasks


·       Serve as a technical resource for metrology functions with responsibility for the daily operation of instrumentation (optical/tactile coordinate measurement machines, profilometers, 3D scanners, etc.) 

        and knowledge sharing of standardized procedures across all corporate locations.

·       Support product development, process development, intellectual property, EHS, quality and manufacturing through the identification and design of appropriate analyses for characterization of a wide

        variety of product platforms.

·       Lead, implement and sustain local/global system improvements, including measurement system analyses to improve accuracy and precision.

·       Manage complex and evolving organizational interdependencies and support internal equipment and method transfers.

·       Lead teams to resolution in the systematic use of data-driven analysis, decision making and validation.

·       Research, evaluate and develop new gauging technologies and measurement automation.

·       Author and maintain internal procedures and work instructions.

·       Assist in vendor selection, prepare functional specifications and train personnel in research and manufacturing laboratories.

·       Must be able to lift and position moderate-weight equipment.

·       Travel up to 30%, depending on project activity.
