Program Manager: WIDIA Program Management Office (PMO)

Location: Latrobe, PA


General Job Description

The WIDIA Program Manager role is responsible for managing, coordinating, and executing programs and projects, regional or global, that support the overall operation and strategic direction of the WIDIA organization to help achieve overall customer satisfaction and financial success.

The primary role and responsibilities include the leadership, planning, development, organization, and maintenance of project timelines, resource planning, status updates, and managing financial activities related to defined projects.  This role will act as a liaison between business functions identifying key stakeholders, and ensuring alignment is being facilitated among process owners.

This position requires a person with wide ranging skills to remove obstacles and problems in the relentless pursuit of business excellence and business growth. This person must build trusting relationships throughout the organization to allow for successful completion of goals and objectives. Leadership skills are needed to motivate colleagues in cross-functional activities.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure implementation of the WIDIA business strategy in a way that is consistent and complimentary with the PMO team, department, and regional goals to achieve business results and project outcomes.
  • Provide leadership within the WIDIA global team to achieve our organization’s PMO goals.
  • Manage day to day coordination for operational and tactical aspects of multiple projects by developing work plans, schedules, estimates, resource plans and status reports.
  • Monitor processes and provide reports on progress and achievement of business and project objectives to identify and manage the critical paths (capacity, capability, etc.) for projects and requirements.
  • Track and communicate key project metrics and milestones to all team members and stakeholders.
  • Optimize resource allocation and utilization to accomplish project objectives efficiently and on-time.
  • Ensure schedules are resource loaded to drive accountability.
  • Conduct proactive and comprehensive risk management to ensure risks are identified, impacts are known and communicated, and corrective actions are planned into the project schedule.
  • Validate project objectives meet the customer needs.
  • Act as advisor to the WIDIA PMO Director on development of new programs to support the strategic plans.
  • Multi-task to meet specified deadlines and maintain a flexible, “Can Do” positive and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for themselves and others around them.


Education and Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Business or Engineering.  An MBA degree and PMI certification is preferred.
  • Five years of industry experience with demonstrated experience in program management, and leading multiple projects with cross functional teams.
  • Able to execute multiple complex projects uncertainty from concept thru deployment with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be detail oriented with little tolerance for substandard work or distractions.
  • Proficient in project management software, and demonstrated ability to learn other business software.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in managing and prioritizing high workloads, multiple tasks, and multiple teams.
  • Experience with facilitating strong collaboration across different cultures and communication styles, as well as to establish and maintain effective and productive working relationships with colleagues from varying cultures.
  • Strong work ethic and time management.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of integrity, trust and confidentiality.
  • Ability to find innovative ways to resolve problems.
  • Domestic and international travel may be required.
