Location: Latrobe, PA - Technology Lab

We are looking for a self-starter college student to add to or Ceramic Materials Engineering, Research and Development team as an Intern. A successful candidate should be pursuing their bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline.

 

Job Description:

Kennametal Technology is seeking a summer intern at our Technology Center in Latrobe, PA, to work in the Ceramic Research and Development group on engineering projects related to powder metallurgy, pressing, powder characterization, and binder of ceramics. This project is ideal for a material science, chemical engineer having completed their junior or senior years, although others would be considered. Knowledge of, or hands-on experience with polymer science, chemistry, powder pressing, powder metallurgy, statistical process control are valuable for this position. The job will require understanding of Excel equations, mathematical modelling, and hands-on with performing experiments and running laboratory process equipment. Familiar with Minitab and SPC/DOE are helpful. FEA with Ansys experience would also be helpful.

 

Responsibilities and desired skill set includes but is not limited to:

 

GPA 3.5 or above

Preferably a student in their junior year at an accredited University. Focus of study in engineering, material sciences, chemical engineering are preferred

Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel

Strong written and verbal communication skills a must.

Familiar with Minitab and SPC/DOE are helpful but not required

Familiar with FEA Ansys mechanical simulation are helpful but not required

Interest or experience with cutting tools

Interest or experience with ceramic processing

Term of internship will run from May to August, 2019
