Job Title: Manager, Sales

Geographic Area: Southern California

Work site location: Remote

 

Job Summary

 

Kennametal has an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Sales Manager with strong industrial sales experience. The Sales Manager will coordinate the sale of products and services in a specified geographic area through assigned sales engineers, reps and sales office activities. Develops sales plans and budgets for achieving sales goals. The primary area of responsibility is the Southern California territory with travel within the region. 

 

Key Job Responsibilities

 

  • Manage day-to-day responsibilities of a function or small unit/department
  • Develop tactical plans to achieve business results and provide feedback and input on strategy
  • Monitor processes and provide reports on progress and achievement of business objectives
  • Optimize resources allocation and utilization
  • Develops the annual sales plan for assigned territory
  • Manage operating and capital budgets.  Manage quota allocation and variable compensation plan for the team
  • Develops the tactical plan for the area of accountability as a reference point to execute strategy.
  • Provides input into attainment of strategy for area of accountability.
  • Identifies emerging issues relevant to area of accountability and adjusts execution plan to address issues

 

Required Skills & Experience

 

  • Candidates for this role should have at least 7 – 10 years (or more) experience managing industrial sales teams.
  • Preferred industry experience machine tooling or metals, but candidates from any type of manufacturing are encouraged to apply.
  • Should have an overall understanding of business objectives and influence of department on the achievement of sales objectives.
  • Candidates can have a combination of education and/or experience commensurate with job requirements. A 4-year secondary degree is a plus.
