Plant Manager

Solon, Ohio

 

Summary

The Solon Plant Manager needs to be an experienced and accomplished business leader who will play an integral role in executing business goals and objectives for profitable, sustainable growth. These responsibilities include implementing key modernization initiatives while developing people and the team to support the future manufacturing demands. The right candidate should be an impact player with a proven track record of change management, understands the implications of decisions and displays financial acumen to deliver profitable growth. The Plant Manager should have a proactive management style where safety first is the foundation.  Additionally, the candidate must have the willingness to lead by example and the ability to champion change initiatives for the betterment of the Business Unit.   

 

Responsibilities

  • Full responsibility for the Plant’s EBIT contribution and overall plant performance ensuring top line shipment targets are met while supporting profitable growth.  Prepares and manages annual and long-range plans, to include safety, quality, customer service, shipments, variances, productivity improvement, capital investment, and inventory for the site.  Analyzing variances, compiling and studying costs and trends, and taking proactive measures to drive continuous, significant performance improvements. 
  • Develops and implements programs for manufacturing rationalization and standardization via equipment selection, plant layout, operating procedures, goal setting, Lean culture, focused factories, and appropriate KPI’s to ensure high and consistent quality, high and consistent customer service, and lowest total manufacturing cost throughout the location.
  • Have accountability for establishing and meeting commitments for on-time, on-budget product delivery for new & existing products, including quality.  Driving product line growth strategies via product line rationalization and developing strategy on new products and exiting legacy products.  Conducts capacity analysis and improvement to meet demands
  • Ensures that site production capacity is utilized to the best possible level while maintaining world class quality and lowest total cost. Ensures that effective manufacturing systems are in place at the plant to maximize effectiveness.  Proactively resolve technical, people, and production issues to ensure success of the team and consistent production of products.
  • Lead the Safety Leadership Committee and develop the site Safety Flight Plan and monitor progress and clear any organizational barriers that may prevent achieving goal of 100% Safe. Establish and enforce safety environment.  Ensure compliance with company standards for revenues, efficiencies, cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete on-time delivery.
  • Maintains excellent relationships with plant workforces to ensure maximum flexibility and effectiveness in operations.   Builds a performance-driven culture through PPM, succession planning, execution of reward systems, and talent development in the organization that includes a strong succession plan.
  • Responsible for plant financial performance.
  • Responsible to assure customer satisfaction needs are met - lead time, on-time delivery, quality of product.
  • Responsible to assure proper manpower levels are in place to support demand.
  • Responsible for reducing costs through lean and 6 Sigma programs.
  • Directs projects, processes, functional and business objectives with a broad scope and impact
  • Provide strategic input to facilitate achievement of business results
  • Has responsibility for making decisions and managing risks that could have significant but short-term impact on the assets of the Company
  • Manage a functional or operational area that directly supports the execution of tactical objectives
  • Assess external developments and develop risk mitigation strategies in the area of responsibility
  • Develops the tactical plan for the area of accountability as a reference point to execute strategy

 

Required Experience

  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing, metal cutting and/or processing. Metallurgical experience preferred.
  • Execution of cross-functional projects with significant influence on the operations of the Company.
  • Influenced and lead department to achieve business objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify emerging issues relevant to area of accountability and adjustments in the execution plan to address issues.
  • Primary responsibility for carrying out all, or portions of, the execution plan relating to specific area of accountability.
  • Translated and communicated overall Company strategy and connection to strategy in area of accountability
  • Resource allocation within area of accountability.
  • Built and maintained relationships with constituents outside Company to support business needs.
  • Use of change management principles to implement automation and robotics while maintaining positive employee relations.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Operations or related Technical Discipline, advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of varied management experience in production operations at manufacturing facilities, including responsibility for multiple functional areas within operations.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in a metal cutting plant is preferred
  • ERP knowledge and experience
  • Experience in a lean manufacturing environment
  • SAP knowledge and experience is preferred
  • Experience within Global Operations is preferred
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification is preferred
  • Legal Authorization to work in the US is required
