Job Title: Manager Advanced Quality

Location: Asheboro, NC Remote

 

 

Job Summary and Mission:
 

Kennametal is seeking a Global Advanced Quality Manager responsible for leading the advanced quality team, to include facilitating and driving projects to improve our process capabilities, solving technical problems and issues, and implementing an advanced quality planning process. This person will focus on supporting and improving multiple manufacturing locations, all facets of the quality system, responding to local and regional issues through formal problem-solving techniques, driving continuous improvement through advanced manufacturing principles, effectively manage product lifecycle through assisting in the development and launch of new products and processes and working closely with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure long-term success
 

 

 Key Job Responsibilities:

· Manage and drive multiple projects at different sites and regions to improve the company’s capabilities through advanced techniques and tools.

· Develops quality strategies and plans supporting new business acquisition, product moves, and program/business plans execution.

· Oversee review of technical information to ensure quality and producibility. Ensuring acceptable MSA and Gage R&Rs for new measuring equipment and techniques.

·Manages employees performing quality engineering and technical activities on or in support of programs through all phases of the product lifecycle

- Participate in the Manufacturing development of Process Flows (PF) and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) documents for assigned Launch programs. Lead Virtual/Task Process Flows when necessary

- Support efforts to improve Quality performance throughout the organization by analyzing Advanced Quality metrics, applicable Operational COPQ/non-conformances, applicable Customer scorecards (Quality expertise), and associated metrics

- Support all Quality quotes, MSA plans, gauge plans/execution, reviews, dimensional evaluations. Control Plan development, etc.

- Provides education and coaching on the Quality System.

·Acquires and manages resources, provides quality technical management, and leads performance improvements.

·Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, suppliers, and direct reports.

·Manages develops, and motivates employee· Experience in Advanced Quality Planning including strong proficiency with AIAG Advanced Quality Planning (e.g., Control Plans, FMEAs, PPAPs, MSA and Statistical Process Control standards, etc.)

 ·Experience with VDA/ISO/IATF Quality Systems is required. Lead Auditor certification is highly desirable

·Perform other duties as assigned by the BU Quality leader
 


Education, Work Experience, Skills, Certificates

· Candidates should possess a 4-year technical degree; an Engineering or Metallurgical degree is preferred, and an advanced degree is highly desirable.

·Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills and experience in structured problem solving (example A3, 8D, quick problem solving).

· Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills

· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and act strategically and tactically to support successful project completion

· Experience with risk assessment tools (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and other APQP tools (Process Flow Diagram, Process Control Plan, Production Part Approval Process, and Control Builds.

·Experience with Capability Studies (product and process), Measurement System Analysis/Gauge Repeatability and  Reproducibility, and Calibration Systems.

· At least ten years of quality experience within the manufacturing industry.

· At least 5-years of experience in an Advanced Manufacturing roll

· Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

· Excellent communication skills.

- Results oriented, analytical, strong work ethic.

· Six Sigma, ASQ certification CMQ/OE highly desired.
