Associate Engineer – SCEM and Taps

1st shift

Asheboro, NC

 

Kennametal's SCEM and Taps department is part of the Global Product Engineering group and is dedicated to developing high-performance tools to meet customer applications.  The group is primarily responsible for developing and introducing new milling and tapping products and technologies into the marketplace. The main purpose of this position is to work on design guidelines and grinding programming related to endmills and taps.  Knowledge of design information, measuring techniques, and especially manufacturing methods and programing is critical to this position.

 

Role Synopsis:

 

Perform duties assigned by Sr. Manager and other engineers of the SCEM and Tap team, including tasks related but not limited to creating/maintaining design guideline information, programming of taps and endmills using various software programs, prototype creation, test planning, and training. Responsible for maintaining of product design guidelines and related manufacturing drawings and associated grinding machine programming.

 

Experience and Education Requirements:

 

  • Must have Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in an engineering field
  • Knowledge (through coursework or experience) of Computer Aided Drafting (CAD)
  • Knowledge of various software programs used in related tasks.
  • Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
  • Must have experience with Machining process fundamentals.
  • Documented experience programming and use of CNC grinding machines to create round shank cutting tools required.
