Job Description:

As a Business Analyst supporting the Commercial Excellence Initiative at Kennametal, you will be pivotal in enhancing our commercial operations, optimizing processes, and maximizing revenue opportunities. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to analyze market trends, customer behaviors, and business performance metrics to drive strategic decision-making and improve commercial effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Data Analysis and Insights Generation:

 

  • Utilize data analytics tools and techniques to extract insights from internal and external datasets.
  • Analyze market trends, customer segments, and competitive landscape to identify growth opportunities and market threats.
  • Provide actionable insights to support decision-making processes across sales, marketing, and product management functions.
  • Leverage AI models and machine learning algorithms to derive deeper insights from data and predict market trends, customer preferences, and sales opportunities.

 

2. Sales Performance Optimization:

  • Collaborate with sales teams to develop performance metrics, KPIs, and dashboards to monitor sales effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Identify sales process bottlenecks and inefficiencies and recommend process improvements to streamline operations and enhance customer engagement.
  • Conduct sales forecast analysis and assist in developing sales strategies to achieve revenue targets.

 

3. Pricing and Margin Analysis:

  • Analyze pricing strategies, discount structures, and margin trends to optimize pricing decisions and maximize profitability.
  • Assess pricing elasticity and competitive positioning to develop pricing models that balance competitiveness with profitability.
  • Work closely with finance and sales teams to implement pricing strategies and monitor pricing compliance.

4. Customer Segmentation and Targeting:

  • Segment customer base based on demographic, behavioral, and transactional data to identify high-value customer segments and growth opportunities.
  • Develop targeted marketing campaigns and sales strategies to engage with key customer segments and drive revenue growth effectively.
  • Monitor customer segmentation trends and adjust strategies to meet evolving market demands.

 

5. Continuous Improvement and Project Management:

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Commercial Excellence team, leveraging Lean and Six Sigma methodologies where applicable.
  • Lead or contribute to cross-functional projects to enhance commercial operations, improve customer experience, and increase revenue generation.
  • Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to implement technology solutions that support commercial excellence initiatives.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Economics, Finance, Data Analytics, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in business analysis, data analytics, or related fields, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Tableau, SQL).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Experience in building AI models and utilizing machine learning algorithms for deriving insights from data.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas to diverse stakeholders.
  • Project management experience and familiarity with Lean Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
