Job Title: Project Manager, Global IT

Location : Bangalore     

Job Summary:

The Global IT Project Manager role is responsible -

 

  • Managing through direct influence, the overall coordination and execution of projects with multi dollars budget as per the defined project management policies, procedures, and best practices. 
  • Coordinate any project inter-dependencies, and manage risks and issues
  • Effectively deliver projects on time and on budget, and achieving the desired outcomes
  • To ensure alignment with change management and other audit requirements to support the needs of the organization
  • To ensure the part time Project Managers receive the appropriate support and services to deliver their projects with adherence to the project management standards
  • Leadership & Stakeholder Management:
  • The primary roles and responsibilities will include the leadership, planning, development, organization and maintenance of the project timeline and resource plans for defined Kennametal projects. This role will also require to liaison between business functions (e.g., Manufacturing, Marketing, Technology, IT, Finance, Procurement), identifying key stakeholders, and ensuring alignment is being facilitated among process owners.
  • Will work closely with business partners, project managers, solutions, delivery and key business stakeholders to ensure that for each project the process for compliance is followed by the respective teams, including but not limited to: charter definition including key goals and deliverables, detailed business and functional requirement definition, financial planning, risk and issue management, milestone and task planning, resource management, status reporting, stage (gate) review and change management, etc.
  • Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Plan and Implement projects with defined scope, goals, deliverables, success criteria, schedule, financial, risk, resources, and readiness plans.
  • Manage day to day responsibilities of various workstream / project teams by creating project schedules & Work Break down structure, effort estimations, supporting & directing project teams, monitoring & reporting project progress, stakeholder engagement, communicate key project metrics and milestones to all team members, and change management.
  • Create capital plans as needed and follow Kennametal Capex planning & tracking process. Work with Global Program Management, Sourcing / Procurement, and Legal teams.
  • Conduct proactive and comprehensive risk management to ensure risks are identified, impacts are known and communicated, and mitigations are planned into the project schedules.
  • Mentor / Coach part time Project Managers.
  • Work / Liaison with various stakeholders on frequent basis – Other project managers, Business partners, solutions, delivery, vendors, internal / external auditors, and key business stakeholders for various project related activities.
  • Manage personal program of self-development, to continuously learn and gain greater understanding of new and existing tools and capabilities, as well as industry and IT trends, through effective research, third parties, networking with peers, user groups, conferences, and formal training.
  • Provide key inputs to ensure the continuous improvement of the PMO function, such as process improvement and the implementation and updating of methodologies and best practices.

Preferred Areas of Education, Certifications, and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree - Any degree
  • Overall experience of 10+ years that includes 6-8 years of demonstrated experience as a project manager leading effort with multi dollar budget using cross functional teams from several different groups
  • Able to execute project of low to high complexity and uncertainty from concept through deployment with minimal supervision and in accordance with Kennametal’s project management process / standards.
  • Problem resolution, organizational, cross-collaboration, conflict resolution, negotiation, and decision-making skills
  • Core understanding of IT systems and requirements to set and measure cross departmental functional deployment to meet enterprise initiatives
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teams and stakeholders to analyze problems and propose recommended solutions that meet technical and operational business needs
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively problem solve, anticipate needs, drive results and exercise good judgment
  • Vendor management experience
  • Awareness of new technologies across industries/functions is a plus
  • Advanced knowledge & experience in software development lifecycle, from planning to delivery based on the Waterfall, Agile methodologies, etc.
  • Experience utilizing disciplined, structured, and repetitive processes to manage project teams.
  • Demonstrated experience with facilitating strong collaboration/communication across multiple geographic locations.
  • Effective written, interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, including communicating across regions
  • Strong competency in customer focus (both internal and external) to ensure project objectives meet the customer’s needs.
  • Strong organizational skills and business acumen
  • Highly motivated, dedicated and results driven
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, Project Management Software (e.g. Microsoft Project), and demonstrated ability to learn other business software.
  • Demonstrated and proven proficiency in project management principals required
