Earth Works Product Engineering – Job Posting
Overview
The Product Engineering, within the Earthworks Engineering department will design, develop, support, test, and maintain Earthworks cutting systems. The department works closely with manufacturing to ensure products are produced swiftly, properly, and efficiently. Individual will have specific product responsibility and manage new product development and process improvement projects through Kennametal’s stage gate process.
This role is responsible for managing, through influence, the overall coordination and execution of mid to large size projects. Responsibilities will include the leadership, planning, development, organization execution (schedule & cost), and cross functional coordination of projects across multiple sites and geographies. The candidate will be expected to spend at least three days per week in our Bedford manufacturing location to foster collaboration with manufacturing and the Product Engineering team on site. Evening calls are also expected occasionally to collaborate with global engineering, sales, and manufacturing in the Asia Pacific region.
Responsibilities

- Must be able to coordinate and execute Short term and long term projects independently
- Provides technical support to salesmen. Customers, suppliers, contractors and internal personnel.
- Assist in the field/Lab testing and evaluation of new products.
- Facilitating strong collaboration/communication with sales, marketing, engineering, and manufacturing teams. across multiple geographic locations
- Up to 25% travel – Visit customer sites including underground coal mines and surface pit mines, potential international travel.
- Primary Focus on the design of Mining and Construction cutting systems and new markets, development of new systems, for structural integrity of components for manufacturing specifications, customer requirements, and for global consistency (KMT Brand).
Requirements (Education, Experience, Skills)

- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Preferred
- Experience with 3D modeling (NX, Solidworks, Inventor)
- Familiar with GD&T Practices.
- Able to execute projects of significant complexity and uncertainty from concept through deployment with minimal supervision.
- Strong Mechanical Aptitude.
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong competency in customer focus (both internal and external) to ensure project objectives meet the customer’s needs
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Project Management Software (e.g. MS Project), and demonstrated ability to learn other business software.
- Experience with finite element analysis is a plus
