Inside Sales Representative

Belleville, ON





  • To provide new sales and retain existing sales within assigned accounts through direct selling or by providing application or field service support which includes product application solutions.
  • Position is responsible for a sales territory and /or individual accounts, and acts as a liaison between customer, field salespersons, and manufacturing.  Position receives requests for quotations, orders, and lead times from customers.  Makes quotations on standard items, writes orders, and relays pertinent order information to customers.  


Key Responsibilities


  • Responsibility for annual Sales target achievement
  • Responsible for assigned customers (distribution partners & end-users) to develop & manage relationship with all relevant stakeholders of the customer
  • Secure and enter customer orders quickly and accurately in response to telephone, fax and/or email communication from either the customer or Kennametal field sales representatives.
  • Process requests for quotations for engineered solution product by establishing recommended selling price, accurate, cost estimate, and proper lead time.
  • Process sales orders for engineered solution product. Create and maintain material masters, identify source, convert sales order to planned order.
  • Coordinate with engineering to develop manufacturing and proposal drawings and/or specifications.
  • Interpret blueprints and enter dimensions into pricing tool
  • Interact with sales, ISCL, and external customers to ensure accuracy of proposals and delivered products.
  • Both in verbal or written form, quote price and delivery in response to customer inquiries and follow up on quotes.
  • Negotiate, monitor and renew contracts proactively.
  • Ensure appropriate stock levels, etc. are maintained.
  • Expedite existing orders in response to customer or field sales inquiry.
  • Negotiate, in the best interest of the company, customer credit requests and issue the appropriate return authorizations.
  • Create new customer masters as required.
  • Additionally, create and maintain Contact Management System (CMS) profiles as information is made available.
  • Review business system error logs or reports as scheduled by management.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of existing and new products & services.
  • Manage multi-level-sales-approach and partner with relevant functions (e.g. include sales manager, sales director, customer service, …)




  • Bachelor’s or technical degree required; experience in an ERP system (J.D. Edwards, SAP, etc) environment is a plus.
  • Blueprint reading required.
  • An innovative and self-motivated marketer whom is able to work independently with little supervision
  • A minimum of three year experience in Metallurgical Production Environment preferred, problem solving skills a must.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
  • General knowledge of one or more of the following preferred: Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Aerospace industries,
  • castings and overlay applications, mining, agriculture, and construction wear solutions.
  • Must possess above average interpersonal skills and business acumen.
