Managing Director South Africa

 

The position is responsible for the P&L for Earth Cutting’s South African legal entities and will be heavily focused on driving profitable sales growth in the region.  This role will take direct responsibility for the local sales teams and associated CSR’s and will work closely with local operations to develop strategies to enable profitable growth in South Africa and the wider region.

 

ECT South Africa is a $35m business with a local production facility but it is also supported by productions plants located in Asia and North America.  The position will provide direction and support to global leadership in identifying opportunities and any required investments and will collaborate with the R&D, design, production, engineering to determine the regions product portfolio and how to satisfy the needs of the customer.

 

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Drive profitable sales growth
  • Responsible for local talent development, mentoring and employee relationship management
  • Responsible for key legal issues including for example BBBEE
  • The role requires statutory director position for two legal entities; Sales and Operations
  • Responsible for Local P&L results, and reports out on results to Infra leadership team
  • Responsible for submitting and negotiating long term supply contracts with customers
  • Leads teams to develop with RDE product and portfolio development and operations
  • Partners with the EMEA and global operations leader to develop manage Footprint, Investment plans, plant performance
  • Develop tactical plans to achieve business results and provide feedback to global management
  • Monitor processes and provide reports on progress and achievement of business objectives
  • Responsible for sales forecasting and plan preparation
  • Support inventory planning and management

 

Sales leadership

  • Responsible for setting and delivering local growth targets including growth in the wider African continent
  • Responsible for local pricing strategies
  • Ensure customer relationships are maintained at a high level; incl OEM’s distributors, end customers etc.
  • Manage the support structures for Agents and Distributors.
  • Direct the sales team for the development and training in focused markets
  • Identification, development, and support in peripheral markets with low attractiveness

 

New Business Development

  • Drives local marketing plans
  • Contributes to development of product literature in all areas
  • Manage coordination between product management, sales, marketing, and engineering

 

Education and Skills and Abilities Required

 

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or related discipline required as a minimum
  • 10+ years of sales and leadership experience.
  • Proven commercial understanding with a track record of developing and executing commercial strategies and action plans.
  • Experience in Underground Coal Mining and the Road Rehabilitation sectors.
  • Strong influencing skills and executive presence
  • Fluent in English and Afrikaans in speaking and writing
  • Willingness to travel frequently
  • Clean driver´s license
