Manufacturing Technology Portfolio Management Engineer (m/w/d)

While manufacturing operations are organized regionally and own delivery of the respective manufacturing AOPs at the plant level, the Portfolio Management Function will balance the portfolio of projects and ensure strategy deployment, standardization, better practice sharing across the global network as well as new product launches to deliver exceptional customer experience.

The Manufacturing Technology Portfolio Management Engineer will work across the Steel-, Insert- and Roundtool Portfolios to support the process of Process Innovation Management and Project pipeline prioritization. As this is a matrix function across all three portfolios, this position will report into the Portfolio Management Lead and work with all three portfolio Directors based on prioritization of tasks.


Key Responsibilities: 

Technology project pipeline

  • Annual review of the pipeline of Process Technology priority projects
  • Facilitation of refreshing the pipeline list together with the Technology and Manufacturing Businesspartners
  • Maintaining the overall list of projects and facilitating the data update and prioritization process for the XLT PPG
  • Monitoring that all listed projects have Business cases, progress in the PDV stage gate and project plans are created and updated in Project Online
  • Provide summaries of financial milestones like Capex spend and Savings

CoE activities

  • Work with the competency teams on identifying priority activities for process documentations, process improvements and process roll-outs (better practice sharing)
  • Active participation in selected priority CoE activities


Span of control and Authority:

  • The position does not have direct reports
  • The position is an Engineering and/or Program Management role



  • The Position can be located either in Latrobe or Fuerth


  • External: Key equipment vendors, key sourcing partners, Customers
  •               Internal: Technology, Product management, Sales, Strategic Sourcing, Finance, Manufacturing Operations, Strategy Deployment, AME, SMART Factory, GPMO, Operational Excellence, Quality, Logistics, HR, Legal


Qualification, Preferred Areas of Education:

  • Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering, material science or manufacturing Technology.
  • 5years’ experience in manufacturing environment with progressive responsibilities.
