Manufacturing Equipment Manager

Goshen, IN 





Kennametal is seeking Equipment Manufacturing Manager to join its team immediately. This is a dynamic position that works within the manufacturing plant to identify opportunities and improve processes through the manufacturing of new equipment and systems, improved programming techniques, process evaluation/improvements, material handling, and other engineering related areas. Ideal candidates will have either several years of hands-on production experience in a manufacturing plant or a combination of education and experience relevant to the manufacturing industry.


Key Job Responsibilities


  • Day to day management of a diverse team of technicians, programmers and engineers focused on the on-time production, installation, maintenance and servicing of thermal spray and hardfacing equipment.


  • Monitor operation expenses, implement improvement processes and systems to reduce costs while maintaining product quality while meeting delivery commitments to customers. 


  • Works with supply chain purchasing and outside vendors to obtain necessary components for the manufacturing, repair and servicing of new and/or installed equipment.


  • Assist in the development, publications and review of new product specifications, SOPs, manufacturing documentation and functional shop floor work instructions.


  • Work closely with Sales and Customer Service to support the global customer base on growth opportunities, and customer issues. Facilitate on-site and off-site assistance for equipment troubleshooting, installation, calibrations and maintenance.


  • Drive process improvements, capital installation(s) and new process introductions


  • Other activities may include developing plans and budgets, team selection, assigning activities, conducting progress reviews, launching corrective actions, assuring all EHS guidelines and requirements are met and reporting progress to plant management.


  • Serve as guide/mentor to other plant engineering staff.


  • Provide input in creation of long-term business execution plans.


  • Interact with customers/suppliers to achieve position's objectives


Key Qualifications

  • Strong background in thermal spray, hardfacing and/or welding technologies are a must.  Must have extensive knowledge of automated solutions for wear, heat and corrosion resistive solutions to include cobalt and nickel-based alloys.   


  • Strong leadership ability – desire to continuously improve manufacturing processes and mentor a team of diverse backgrounds.


  • Must have ability to initiate and manage team’s workload independently without micro-input from management.



Education or Equivalent Work Experience Necessary


  • Four (4) year secondary degree OR relevant manufacturing experience.


  • Minimum of three (3) years in either coating industry or relevant systems & manufacturing role.
