Production Supervisor (3rd Shift)

This position directs the activity of third shift production, including atomization, screening, Rod production, Wire production, Dental, maintenance, and other processing to produce metal powders to the specified requirements at or below the estimated cost and within the required delivery time.  This position reports to the Production Manager.


Essential Functions


  • Directs employees with respect to production volume, cost, quality, schedules, and delivery dates
  • Employee relations, including recruiting, performance evaluation, coaching, training, salary administration, scheduling;  resolves employee issues through problem resolution
  • Ensures efficient and economical utilization of materials, improvement of methods, and elimination of wasteful practices
  • Keep complete accountability of all work-in-process materials, track product yields and modify process(es) to improve the yield;  provide information to Production Manager, Quality Manager, Engineering staff
  • Coordinate and initiate production schedules and establish priorities within the department, in conjunction with the Production Manager
  • Directs housekeeping staff to ensure plant and office area are routinely cleaned, per specifications
  • Is trained in Melting and Casting equipment.


Typical duties and tasks


  • Regular attendance
  • Maintains adherence to Company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices
  • Ensures machinery, equipment, and facilities are properly maintained for efficient production
  • Keeps records of departmental activities
  • Submits maintenance work order’s as needed
  • Conducts all MBS activities


Qualifications and Experience


  • Associates Degree, preferably Bachelors Degree, a demonstrated understanding of Melting and continuous casting processes.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing facility
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization in a professional manner, including giving clear and concise instructions and directions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Conflict Management 
  • Strong independent work skill sets
