Millwright Maintenance Mechanic
1st Shift
The maintenance of boiler includes preparing them for inspection which consists of cleaning fire tubes, flushing out and draining boilers, cleaning inside of fire box, breaching flues and chimney and preparing all safety equipment. Must use standard tools supplied by individuals as well as tools and equipment supplied by company such as amp meter, ph meter, fire tube.
DUTIES – Clean and or wipe equipment. Normal operator maintenance of equipment is responsible to prevent damage to tools, materials, equipment, and to maintain efficient performance, quality of work, and safety of others. Enter wage production, or other data into Data Collection computer as directed.
- Do maintenance work that is greatly diversified, such as: oil burner installation, repair, maintenance, welding, and sheet metal work. Employee will perform in a workmanlike manner, with a minimum of or no supervision except to specified objectives and priority. Do specialized maintenance or construction skills recognized as requiring certification or licensing by State or Federal regulations, and those specialized long training skills as rigger, plumber, or burner installation and repairman, sheet metal man, welder or heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment (refrigeration), wastewater treatment, environmental compliance equipment.
- Lays out and makes patterns for various work assigned. Cuts, bends, forms solder or welds various sheet metal fabrications such as machine guards, splash guards, tanks, duct work and any other metal fabrication required by plant. Uses various equipment to perform the above duties such as power saw, small break, large break, roll formers, lock formers, power shears, power rolls, drill press and any other electric or hand tools associated with subject craft.
- Repairs and fabricates various baskets required for various washing equipment, sand blast equipment, heat treat equipment and any outside work contracted by the Greenfield Plant. Also fabricates various fixtures and performs all welding work as designated. Fabricates from print or sketches any related steel work necessary to the manufacturing operation. Uses various equipment to perform the above duties such as power shears, power saws, hand cut off tools, D.C. Welding, equipment, gas welding, and brazing equipment, torch cutting equipment, power sanders, grinders, benders, roll formers, drill press, pedestal grinders, brakes, and any other electric or hand tools associated with subject craft.
Knowledge and Experience - Use of mathematic principles together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, table; various types of precision measuring instruments, ability to make minor modifications to NC/CNC equipment programs and personal computer to input data, interpretation of data and measuring devices requiring advanced skills knowledge. Equivalent to 1 to 3 years of applied training in a particular or specialized occupation. Other occupations and skilled trades open to apply. Willing to train the right applicant.
EQUIPMENT USED – Construction hand tools (electric-pneumatic – gas operated), cement mixers, machine moving equipment (dollies, chains, jacks, rollers, electric winches, forklifts, etc.) carpenter tools, plumbing & steam fitting tools, snow blower, Personal tools as hammer, screwdrivers, pliers, scales, etc.
- Gages & instrumentation for testing air conditions, boilers, etc.
- Bench saws, planers, sanders & other power equipment.
- Person must supply his own tools, based on a list provided by the company.
Must be able to set up or willing to learn how to, adjust, understand, clean, maintain and repair:
- Burners for proper fire
- Boilers (also prepare for inspection)
- Feed water pumps and system
- Oil feed pumps and system
- Vacuum pumps and system
- Water softener and treatment system
- Water receiver and strainer system
- Heat exchangers and their related pumps
- Automatic electric boiler control systems
- Automatic valves
- Hand valves
- Nozzles
- Electrical safety equipment
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations - All persons will be required to hold a Massachusetts State driver’s license. Each person, as directed by the company, will be potentially required to hold one or more additional licenses such as Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator, Hoisting Engineer, Master Pipefitter, or Oil Burner Technician. Training can be provided.
