An excellent opportunity has become available to join Kennametal as an Application Engineer. The Application Engineer will work with one of our most prestigious customers evaluating their manufacturing needs and providing a complete tool management solution with associated costs.

 

Working directly with the customer based onsite, you will engage in customer-facing activities such as troubleshooting and providing technical support. The successful candidate will be competent with 3 and 5 axis programming and be able to provide advice on fixturing (work holding & tooling), and machining processes.

 

This will require a sophisticated level of technical expertise that will include experience of cutting tools, working knowledge of various materials, and knowledge of a variety of machine tools (Mazak, Mori Seiki, DMG, Leighti, Starrag, Grob, and Huron etc).

 

Responsibilities

 

  • To effectively manage specified projects that involves evaluating customers manufacturing needs and providing solutions.
  • To maintain a thorough working and application knowledge of all company products, and Services.
  • To acquire and develop all necessary professional sales knowledge and skills in accordance with the company
  • personal development and training programmes.
  • Effectively prove out performance of specified tooling within a production environment.
  • To maintain a thorough working knowledge of Company’s CAD / CAM software Solutions.
  • To compile and present professional Project documentation to customers. This documentation may include, Solid Modelling,
  • Process Sheets, Tooling Sheets, Time Studies, Cost per Part Evaluations, and Tooling Quotations.
  • To ensure all activities are conducted in a professional, confidential and ethical manner.
  • Other duties that may be agreed to enhance the company’s image and performance.

 

Typical Education and work experience

 

  • A recognized qualification in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or time served apprenticeship.
  • Experience within the metal cutting or precision tooling industry.
  • High level of competence using CAD, CAM.
  • Programming 3 and 5 Axis CNC Turning and Milling machines working with exotic materials.
  • An In-depth understanding of the manufacturing industry and concepts associated with Kennametal Products.
  • An innovative and self-motivated individual whom is able to work independently with little supervision.
  • Flexibility to work the following shift patterns rotating on a weekly basis 06:00 - 14:00, 14:00 - 22:00 & 08:00 - 16:00.
  • Proficiency with MS Office in Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Excellent command of the English language.
