Summary

Kennametal Vietnam is seeking a quality manager responsible for overseeing the facility’s quality management program, including the development and management of a team of qualified personnel, for ensuring customer satisfaction through the production of products that consistently meet our customers’ needs and design standards. This person will maintain all facets of the quality system to the current ISO 9001 standard, respond to customer and supplier issues through formal problem-solving techniques, drive continuous improvement through Lean manufacturing principles, and work closely with key stakeholders, internal and external ensure long-term success.

 

Position Responsibilities

 

  • Lead key quality initiatives to ensure the team is meeting expectations.
  • Develop and manage the direction of quality and reliability standards for the facility.
  • Communicates customer, regulatory and organizational requirements to assure product quality, contract compliance, and customer satisfaction.
  • Create and maintain the Quality Management System to the current ISO 9001 standard. This includes managing and coordinating all ISO activities associated with site accreditation.
  • Drive and establish quality procedures through benchmarking, collaboration, and data analysis that reduce cost, minimize variability and improve resource optimization and utilization.
  • Maintain product quality by enforcing quality assurance policies, procedures, and government requirements.
  • Manage quality technicians team and coach team members to support a high degree of technical assessment and analytics.
  • Work in conjunction with the Plant Manager and leadership team to drive a collaborative quality culture
  • Lead structure problem-solving focusing on excellent corrective and preventative actions.
  • Establish requirements for manufacturing parts for suppliers and monitor their compliance.
  • Devise and review specifications for products and processes.
  • Direct the analysis of all field claims and direct corrective and preventive action results.
  • Train employees in fundamental problem solving, SPC (statistical process control), and other statistical methods.
  • Develop and leverage reporting that highlights areas for continuous improvement actions.

 

Education & Work Experience

 

  • Candidates should possess a 4-year technical degree; an Engineering degree is preferred, and an advanced degree is highly desirable.
  • Implementation experience of statistical methods such as DOE and SPC.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills and experience in structured problem solving (example A3, 8D, quick problem solving).
  • Knowledge of ISO standards and requirements.
  • At least 5 years of quality experience within the manufacturing industry.
  • At least 3 -years experience in a managerial or team lead capacity.
  • Six Sigma, ASQ certification CMQ/OE highly desired.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication skills.
