The purpose of this position is to manage, plan, and implement EHS programs and policies. In addition, this position will work to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illness, adverse financial impact, and ensure applicable regulatory compliance requirements are followed within a single plant or up to 3 plants.

 

· Works with local Leadership of (Facilities) to develop Strategy for implementation of all EHS rules and regulations, EHS Corporate Initiatives, and coordinates implementation.

· Provides a high level of EHS Technical expertise to site Leadership day-to-day and on special site projects as needed, ensuring compliance requirements and risk mitigation steps are effectively implemented.

· Communicates with the Plant / General Manager, Supervisors, and Corporate EHS to discuss overall facility performance developing improvement plans on specific site-specific initiatives.

· Maintain communication with and develops local EHS Communication plans for all Team Members addressing safety procedures, EHS Alerts, the status of corrective actions, and all pertinent EHS information.

· Provides overall direction and coordinates equipment EHS required inspections, EHS required permitting and provides direction to site Leadership on EHS gaps and exposures.

· Develops site-specific systems to maintain all required EHS documentations

· Provides overall Support and input for the site perspective with Global EHS Initiatives as required

· Works Interdependently with other site EHS Managers across the Region

· Approve new commodities and chemicals being used at the facility.

· Coordinate all aspects of incident reporting and investigation processes.

· Support Human Resources EHS Discipline Issues

· Directly gets involved in a proactive manner on worker’s compensation claims and works with Leadership, HR and 3rd Party Administrators to assure adequate Team Member coverage and timely return to work efforts.

· Maintain knowledge of applicable Federal, State, Local and site EHS requirements in the areas of air quality, waste management, hazardous material, water quality, and occupational health and safety.

· Develops site-specific EHS management system that aligns with Corporate overall systems and strategy.

· Lead Behavior-Based Safety Program and monitor program performance.

· Occasional after-hours, weekend work, and travel may be required.

· Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned including Leading or Participating on EHS Corporate Initiatives.

· Coordinate EHS capital and expense requirements for the site(s)

· Pursue appropriate professional development.

· Other duties may be assigned.

 

· Conducts required Team Leadership Members Compliance and Conformance Training. Also, establishes EHS training requirements and conducts or coordinates as necessary Team Member compliance and conformance Training

· Must be able to understand EHS cultural changes, quickly recognize shortcomings and effectively guide and coach leadership on required changes to assure an interdependent culture is developed and maintained.

· Must be able to constructively coach site Leadership on EHS performance
