The role of the Supply Chain Manager is instrumental in ensuring that the most effective supply chain processes are in place to support the Metal Cutting business segment strategies and business objectives.  This role operates in unison with the global Metal Cutting Segment Operations, Commercial and Finance teams, and the Global Supply Chain & Logistics team.  It is responsible to ensure that the Metal Cutting integrated supply chains in the Americas are positioned to achieve customer On Time Performance expectations with optimized cost, quality, efficiency, and effectiveness.  This role will assess and manage supply chain risk and lead improvements in Salles and Operations Planning processes with standardized processes, tools, metrics and performance improvement initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead in a way that improves performance toward Enterprise Key Results.  Lead and demonstrate the highest commitment to safety and integrity.
  • Accountable for the Site Supply Chain / Materials Management functions at regional plants under his/her scope with a focus on effective planning and high plan adherence
  • Instills process standardization and performance improvement culture among site planning teams under strong collaboration with the Global Supply Chain team
  • Collaborates with Manufacturing and Regional Commercial Supply Chain leaders to drive the balancing of customer service level targets with financial performance and capacity utilization
  • Drives data and system-driven culture for site planning
  • Represents the sites' planning capabilities and performance, and provide strategic direction to improve performance
  • Ensures high-performing teams with talent-development culture at sites
  • Provides strategic thought leadership and drive for site sales, inventory, and operations planning - proactively monitoring and managing potential capacity, supply, service issues
  • Ensure that Metal Cutting Business Segment supply chain delivers to plan and ensure planning processes & data are optimized and stay up-to-date and up-to-standards
  • Coordinate with Metal Cutting Business Segment and Global Supply Chain leadership to ensure continuous improvement efforts and resources are aligned
  • Act as a key escalation point for supply chain issues in Metal Cutting Business Segment and engage with the right resources in the Segment and Global Supply Chain to resolve issues
  • Inventory Control: Ensure processes are in place to optimize global inventory levels throughout the Metal Cutting supply chain and set stocking levels using a consistent approach across plants.  Utilize a robust process to minimize excess and obsolete inventory and drive Commercial team accountability to Consignment inventory.
  • Ensure supply chain KPIs are evaluated against market expectations.  Establish improvement targets for improvement, including annual and quarterly adjustments.
  • Operate with the highest level of accountability for successfully accomplishing work objectives and delivering business results, setting high standards of performance for self and others.

Preferred Areas of Education, Certifications, and Skills:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or relevant degree with supply chain leadership experience.
  • Minimum of 15 years in progressive supply roles in industrial and/or B2B supply chains
  • Experience in leading Sales and Operations Planning processes for multi-site/regional supply chains, including made-to-order and made-to-stock products, and large quantities of materials.
  • Able to demonstrate significant improvements made to supply chain performance and metrics through personal leadership of projects and initiatives (inventory turns, inventory levels, on-time performance, supply chain efficiency, etc.).
  • Thorough understanding and strong experience using advanced planning systems within the operational environment.
  • Experience using ERP systems, particularly usage of standard supply chain modules and reporting.  SAP experience is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to standardize and improve supply chain processes for tangible financial impact.
  • Good understanding of financial metrics and processes impacted by supply chain performance.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to lead through influence at all levels.
  • Ability to think strategically and execute tactically with a bias for action
  • Strong communicator, capable of clearly articulating strategy through tactics with all organizational levels.
