Kennametal is seeking an Business Research and Forecasting Associate to join our team to help solve some of the most challenging questions in the Metal Cutting industry. This highly visible role will serve as a trusted adviser to business leaders that enables us to understand our business, markets, and customers clearly. You will drive evidence-based decision making by providing timely, actionable and forward-looking insights. You will design quantitative systems and forecasting models that generate billion-dollar predictions of the highest level of visibility and importance for Kennametal’s financial and operational planning.

 

  • Conduct market research. Gather and analyze macroeconomic and industry data. Develop robust data and intelligence pipelines and explore new sources related to our markets and Customers.
  • Build and update accurate predictive financial models to provide forecasting insights to senior and executive business leaders.
  • Demonstrate periodic coverage of relevant market participants including financial reporting and presentations, company conference, and other research.
  • Evaluate impact of ongoing events to near-term operations and long-term business fundamentals.
  • Partner with key players in the business to perform econometric mix modeling to uncover the impact of key business and marketing changes on the business.
  • Drive evidence-based decision making by providing timely, actionable and forward-looking insights. Develop analytic frameworks to enhance the company’s capability in making strategic decisions in a highly competitive, cyclical, and changing market environment.
  • Communicate and present models, analytical results, and recommendations to business partners and executives.

Qualifications:

  • You have a passion for answering hard questions with data and offering bold ideas to help grow the business.  
  • You are a self-starter with has a high level of initiative.
  • MBA or Masters’ degree with a concentration in Finance or quantitative field such as Applied Statistics or Mathematics.
  • 4+ years of experience in equity research, with preference to Industrials
  • Strong conceptual and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong problem formulation and solving skills.
  • Strong collaboration and communications skills, including executive presentations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and leadership behaviors.
  • Strong project management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CFA designation
