Job Description – Requirements

Minimum of Bachelor’s degree with >3 years experience required Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Engineering Mechanics or relevant experience in an electric controls field. Practical experience with industrial furnaces is required, preferably in the powdered metals industry.  Knowledge of electromechanical systems, control systems, electrical design, PLC ladder logic programming, networking, process automation and Human Machine Interface programming.  Vacuum pump technology, vacuum system design, gas distribution systems, and furnace design are a plus.  Ability to work hands on with industrial equipment is a must.  Project management experience is a benefit.

 

The successful candidate must demonstrate effective verbal/written communications skills, excellent troubleshooting skills and an ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.  Time management and prioritization skills are critical.  Applicants should possess a desire to join an extended team of research and manufacturing colleagues in a fast-paced environment.

 

Job Description – Tasks

  • Serve as a technical resource for sintering operations with responsibility for furnace electrical design, specifications, technical vendor interactions, furnace commissioning/decommissioning, preventive maintenance programs, process development and knowledge sharing of standardized procedures across all corporate locations.
  • Manage install base of PLC/HMI furnace control system.  Manage upgrades and new system integrations.
  • Assist in vendor selection, prepare functional specifications, and train personnel in research and manufacturing facilities.
  • Lead teams to resolution in the systematic use of data-driven analysis, decision making and validation.
  • Research, evaluate and develop new hardware.
  • Author and maintain internal procedures and work instructions.
  • Support product development, process development, intellectual property, EHS, quality and manufacturing through the identification and design of appropriate sintering processes for a wide variety of product platforms.
  • Must be able to lift and position moderate-weight equipment.
  • Travel up to 30%, depending on project activity.
  • Position requires domestic and international travel.
