Business Unit Controller

Latrobe, PA or Pittsburgh, PA

 

Kennametal’s Finance team is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as the lead financial business partner to the company’s Steel Business Unit at its Pittsburgh, PA or Latrobe, PA office.  In providing financial leadership and recommending process and profit improvement actions to the business unit VP, the team member in this role will be collaborating with colleagues at various levels in the organization, including executives.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Primary accountability for the performance of global steel manufacturing facilities
  • Manage day-to-day responsibilities of a $120M business unit
  • Develop tactical plans to achieve business results and provide feedback and input on strategy
  • Makes decisions using detailed analysis, integration and constructive thinking
  • Monitor processes and provide reports on progress and achievement of business objectives
  • Optimize resources allocation and utilization
  • Provides input into creation of and execution of a plan and updates to the plan based on changes in strategic direction
  • Provides input into attainment of strategy for area of accountability
  • Identifies emerging issues relevant to area of accountability and adjusts execution plan to address issues
  • Secures and/or negotiates resources within area of accountability to ensure effective execution of strategy.
  • Accountable for development and adherence to the global business unit budget

 

Skills/Requirements:

 

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, with an MBA or Master’s concentrated in Finance preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of management experience
  • Experience with SAP and Hyperion a plus but not required
  • Experience in a multinational, manufacturing company a plus but not required
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities in performing projects with cross-functional teams, implementing process improvements and profit/costs improvement actions
  • Ability to translate data into meaningful actions and recommendations for the business
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Ambition and potential to advance through the organization
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision
