The Principal Digital architect will manage the Digital Marketing and eCommerce data practices, design and system engineering to ensure delivery quality and achieve efficiency following agile development best practices. As part of these responsibilities, the Principal architect will provide input to the product roadmap, helping to identify, manage, test and launch feature/function updates and enhancement and assist with overseeing and managing data governance.

The position requires an individual with data management and information architecture skills. Strong communication skills, attention to details and ability to effectively manage and mentor agile dat a and engineering teams is a requirement.


Core Responsibilities

  • Architect digital consumer experiences based on a foundation of SAP Hybris/C4 commerce
  • Provide solution design for commerce features such as search, product details, personalization, and merchandizing features such as catalog, pricing and promotions
  • Provide solutions integrating Digital Marketing, eCommerce, Product management, Sales enablement, and Customer Service
  • Implement data analysis solutions for all Digital applications
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners and external vendors to create end-to-end specifications and data governance for ecommerce solutions.
  • Provide input and direction to engineering resources on design and implementation.
  • Coordinate with other Kennametal engineering teams on cross-domain architecture, dependencies and knowledge sharing.
  • Define best practices to implement non-functional requirements like performance and scalability of the ecommerce solution.


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Overall experience of 8 to 10 years of experience with 4+ years of ecommerce or digital marketing
  • 5+ years practical experience in software engineering and application architecture
  • Mastery of ecommerce implementation specifically the SAP stack
  • Experience with Content Management Systems (CMS), preferable Adobe Experience Manager
  • Knowledge of Product Master Data Management and Product Information System, including but not limited to Stibo STEP and SAP Hybris PCM
  • Experience leading agile engineering teams including a mix of onshore and offshore resources
  • Strong grasp of web technologies and architectural principles necessary for designing scalable, extensible and maintainable web applications and services.
  • Integration experience with multiple third-party vendors for payment gateway solutions, Gift/ Loyalty, Ratings& Reviews and Social Networking sites
  • Sound knowledge of integration patterns with larger technical ecosystems including API Gateway, Content Management, Identity and Access Management, Order management and Product Information Management
  • Aptitude for troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Ability to establish goals and set clear expectations, prioritize activities and follow through to completion
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability with a commitment to delivering high quality platforms that balance technical and business goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate with a variety of audiences at all levels.
