Global Sourcing Transformation Manager

Location - Prefer candidate in Pittsburgh or Western PA but would be open to a strong candidate working regionally and able to travel to Pittsburgh area on a regular cadence. 

 

Job Summary

Leads the value capture transformation for Kennametal’s Global Sourcing Operating Model, and is responsible for the global deployment, operations and continuous improvement of category management standards and specific category transformations, source-to-contract systems and tools, and integration of global sourcing tools with other functions. This position will partner directly with the global category management teams to deliver support the achievement of our Global Sourcing KPIs.

 

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 3 to 5 sourcing and project management professionals, providing leadership, direction, and strategy. Translating business priorities into process and system improvements for global sourcing that deliver agreed outcomes.  
  • Partners with global category management teams to ensure that systems and standards are in place to maximize value capture by identifying and executing commercial demand levers.
  • Leads the development, implementation, and governance of category management and source-to-contract business processes; including spend analytics, eSourcing, contract management, risk analytics, etc.
  • Develops, implements, communicates, and ensures proper governance of the corporate-wide Sourcing policy.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders in global sourcing, finance, IT and others as determined to coordinate business requirements and ensure robust processes and systems are in place.
  • Liaise with regional sourcing groups (Americas, EMEA, Asia Pacific, and India) to understand local requirements and ensure proper support as needed.
  • Supports Key Metrics & Outcomes include Assurance of Supply, Quality, Service, Cost, Innovation and Regulatory Compliance
  • Support strategic initiatives and projects as required by the business.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities in the value capture workstreams within the global sourcing operating model.

 

Requirements

  • Experience: 7+ years in Strategic Sourcing or business process improvement (RQ)
  • Natural ability to interact positively with internal stakeholders across cultures, regions, and professional disciplines
  • Responsible to select and develop top talent for Kennametal’s global sourcing transformation team.  Ensures the team is focused on driving optimal value across Kennametal’s global sourcing organization.
  • Maintains the highest level of integrity, ethics commitment to safety and compliance to KMT’s code of conduct; role models these behaviors for suppliers.
  • Proven experience in leading and developing the sourcing capabilities of the team, comfortable leading through influence, skilled in all forms of communication.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of products, internal business processes, external customer segments, strategic direction and business objectives. Aligns business objectives and develops sources of supply based on strategic direction.

  • Understands organization of internal customer groups, key users and characteristics of these customers. Drives to understand customer requirements and uses this information as an input into sourcing decisions. Develops and fosters mutually beneficial customer relationships.
  • Experience in procurement IT systems, along with ERP integration
  • Skilled in analytics; leverages ERP software & raw data to organize and prioritize information for decision making.
  • Responsible for project management function in designing, planning, and managing projects to deliver business process and system improvements
  • Understands financial concepts including invoicing, accounts payable and other financial business processes. Interprets financial data, analyzes cost structures, and determines financial impacts of decisions.

 

Preferred Areas of Education & Certifications: 

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree (RQ) in Supply Chain, Business, or Engineering; MBA (PF)
  • Experience: 7+ years in Strategic Sourcing or business process improvement (RQ) with 1+ years of Global Strategic Sourcing (PF).
  • Certifications: CPSM (PF)
  • Proficiency: MS Office, Excel, Word & PowerPoint (RQ), SAP (PF)
