Inside Sales Representaitve - CNC Machining Tooling

Kennametal is seeking a dynamic team player with metal cutting experience looking to transition their career off the floor into an entry level Inside Sales role. If you are currently working as a machinist or have previous hands-on machining experience, we would be very interested in speaking to you!

 

The Inside Sales Representative is a critical role for Kennametal’s long-term growth initiatives and is an active team member in how we continue to acquire new customers, retain and grow existing customers, and leverage the use of digital marketing. In this role, you will work closely with marketing team members to leverage digital platforms aimed at proactive customer outreach and lead follow-up, with intent to convert to long lasting customers. The Inside Sales Representative will work in tandem with field sales within a defined territory and is responsible for driving sales opportunities to closure, and establishing loyal repeat customers, either by direct or indirect selling. This role works cross functionally with internal and external customers to ensure an exceptional level of service is provided to our customers. 

 

This role is a full time remote (home-based) position. Some travel, including overnight, is periodically needed for customer visits, training, and trade events.

 

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Actively pursue new customers through lead follow-up activities, with main goal of increasing sales through outbound calling, emailing, and video conference. 
  • Identify potential untapped markets through cold calling, research, leads.
  • Drive customer adoption of e-commerce tools through education and marketing campaigns.
  • Retain and grow existing relationships with customers within the small to mid-market realm.
  • Identify upsell and cross sell opportunities within customer portfolio.
  • Manage the sales process from proposal to close, including negotiating pricing, agreements, programs.
  • Transition accounts as needed to and from field sales – based on specific customer needs. 
  • Collaborate internally and cross-functionally to continuously improve processes on customer acquisition and retention.
  • Actively engage with peers at channel partners to build relationships and increase work collaboration.
  • Customer problem solving through effective communication and teamwork with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engage in technical discussions with potential and current customers through demonstrations and presentations.
  • Leverage CRM and sales enablement tools to document customer interactions (i.e., calls, emails, tasks & report preparation).

 

 Education and Experience Requirements

 

  • Minimum Level of Education (for Job): Associate degree or Technical training
  • 2-4 years of relevant industrial work experience, preferably in machining/metal cutting
  • 1-3 years of customer facing experience in sales and/or service industry
  • Experience with sales through channel partners/distribution a plus.

  • Strong aptitude for product sales.

  • Strategic thinking, problem solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Competitive and assertive.
  • Demonstrated success working with little to no direct daily supervision.
  • Solid experience with CRM software, ERP platforms and MS Office applications.
  • Ability to travel, as needed, to customer sites.
