Smart Factory Development and Data Analytics Manager


Job Summary

The Smart Factory Development and Data Analytics Manager is responsible for developing Smart Factory tools and leading the Data Science team to establish predictive algorithms to improve machine throughput and product quality


Key Job Responsibilities


Work with the Operational Excellence, Site Operations, and IT teams to capture user requirements and develop digital tools and applications for deployment in manufacturing sites globally.

Lead the Data Scientist Team as they used advanced analytical tools to identify latent problems and develop predictive algorithms to reduce scrap, improve manufacturing consistency, and increase machine throughput.

Translate manufacturing problems with downtime, scrap, machine performance, quality issues… into problem statements that can be analyzed by the Data Scientist Team.

Work with Site Operations and Competency Teams to identify relevant tag values for each process and piece of equipment to collect data to be used in problem solving and predictive algorithms.

Coordinate efforts between vendors, IT, and controls engineers to develop machine connectivity plans for bi-directional data flow.

Advance the Smart Factory deployment roadmap through the 5 stages from Foundation through Predictive.

    Stay current on the newest machine learning and predictive algorithm technologies and lead efforts to deploy those technologies in Kennametal.


Education, Work Experience, Skills, Certificates

Masters in Engineering or Business Management


Years of Relevant Work Experience Required: 5-8 Years
