Manager of Inside Sales

Location - Remote, preferred candidate would be in Eastern Time Zone US


Job Summary

Primary lead on the development and implementation of a robust inside sales program with a global reach.  Responsible and accountable for leading a team of Inside Sales Reps to achieve ongoing sales revenue & market share growth, productivity and customer relationship development.  This role will provide strategic leadership, in collaboration with Commercial Team Leaders, Sales Operations, Channel Management, Marketing and Finance, in identifying and leveraging sales opportunities to gain/ build market share in territory segments (General Engineering, Aerospace, Transportation, Oil & Gas, etc.).


Key Job Responsibilities

  • Go-to-market market and other strategiesrategy from upper management and cascade to teams.
  • Promote new product campaigns with team from top down.
  • Participate in Monthly Business Review of team progress.
  • Financial plan objectives: review weekly, monthly.
  • Approve monthly team expenses.
  • In collaboration with Commercial Team Leaders, forecast future industry and business in region and create monthly sales projections with high accuracy.
  • Collaborate with Commercial Team Leaders to establish sales quota with accuracy and monitor plan vs. actuals.
  • In collaboration with Commercial Team Leaders, approve promotions, and special pricing agreements.
  • Team Development 
  • Build an efficient sales team by recruiting and hiring the right people.
  • Coach & mentor team members regarding personal development.
  • Brainstorm new and creative ways to improve the selling process.
  • In collaboration with Commercial Team Leaders, review account coding, compensation, and sales territory.
  • Communicate continually with direct reports on team and individual level.
  • Manage PPM goal setting, PPM mid- and year-end reviews.
  • Perform talent reviews and react accordingly.
  • Manage internal training and development execution.
  • Manage One Team tasks and BECC compliance.
  • Communicate channel & commercial strategies to team.
  • Lead by example, following TrueNorth and exemplifying Kennametal cultural beliefs.
  • Review of CRM opportunities, pipelines and sales activities as well as distribution of leads.
  • Review activity of Top Gain/ Loss accounts.
  • Review and communicate new product, promotion progress and marketing initiatives & strategy.
  • Manage conflict resolution.
  • Conduct ride a long’s with Inside Sales Reps as needed.
  • In collaboration with other Commercial Team Leaders, create and revise strategy and revise plan based on overall sales.
  • Review resource allocation and adjust as needed.
  • Recognize team members through focused recognition and programs.


  • 5 to 8 years of Relevant Work Experience Required
  • Experience building a successful inside sales department for an industrial organization 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Operations, Marketing, Communications or similar field required; MBA Preferred.
  • Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Experience with SAP, CRM and Microsoft Applications.  Strong Organizational, Time Management & Leadership abilities.  Excellent Soft Skills.
