Mechanical Engineer - Technology Engineering

Location - Latrobe, PA

Kennametal, Inc. seeks a Mechanical Engineer/Technology to work in Latrobe, PA, and, as a member of the Global Solutions Engineering Group. The position will be responsible for developing tooling concepts and manufacturing drawings for custom engineered solutions tooling. Will review technical and functional requirements for customers' products. Will work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment with a diverse group including Sales Teams, Application Engineers, Customers, Material Sciences, and Manufacturing.  Preferred skills/experience include practical experience interpreting technical drawings and engineering specifications, knowledge of geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), advanced mathematics, and understanding of close tolerance manufacturing processes such as pressing, sintering, grinding, milling, turning, etc.   Experience with 3D modeling and/or CAD/CAM software is also desired.  Knowledge of machining processes and carbide cutting tools is a plus.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field
• Two (2) years of relevant experience are strongly preferred

Experience must include:

• 3D modeling experience (Unigraphics NX Preferred);
• Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T);
• Working cross-functionally with sales, customers, and manufacturing locations;
• Practical experience interpreting technical drawings and specifications
• Machine tool experience a plus
