R&D Laboratory Technician - Willing to Train! 

 

Job Description: 

Kennametal is seeking a Research & Development Laboratory Technician at our Technology Center in Latrobe, PA. This individual will work in the Ceramic Research and Development group on engineering projects related to powder metallurgy, pressing, wet chemistry, mixing, and binder of ceramics. Knowledge of, or hands-on experience with polymer science, chemistry, powder pressing, powder metallurgy is valuable for this position.  The job will require an understanding of work instruction through spreadsheets and hands-on work with performing experiments and running laboratory process equipment. 

 

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Hands-on work with 90% in a laboratory setting
  • Working closely with science, engineering staff, and other technicians
  • Familiar with powder metallurgy, mixing, wet chemistry, pressing, sintering of powder
  • Programming and operation of laboratory equipment
  • Working in a dynamic R&D environment with powder and chemistry
  • Maintain a laboratory notebook, and interpret technical formulas
  • Exercise safe working practices

 

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Effective communication skills; written and verbal
  • Interest or experience with ceramic processing
  • Support characterization and testing of powder and parts
  • Physically able to lift up to 30lbs.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED
