Job Description

This person is responsible for a designated line of products within the Kennametal Inc. portfolio.  They are the Senior Product Manager on the team and carry an additional responsibility of being the mentor to other Product Managers.  They operate and run their portfolio with less overall supervision and typically take on extra projects outside their core area of responsibility to further build and develop their professional skills.  Like the Product Manager, they are responsible for the "Five P" of the marketing mix.


Key Job Responsibilities


  • Manage day-to-day responsibilities of a product line (Ceramics, Silicon Nitrides, PCD and PCBN materials)
  • Develop tactical plans to achieve business results and provide feedback and input on strategy
  • Monitor processes and provide reports on progress and achievement of business objectives
  • Optimize resources allocation and utilization


Education and Experience Requirements


  • 4 year degree in Engineering or Material Science preferred
  • 8 -10 years experience in discipline
  • Manufacturing experience, has applied advanced cutting tools


Key Position Accountabilities


  • Product line sales to plan by region and globally, as well as portfolio profitability, gross margins for their product line
  • Product Lifecycle development, new product development, product roadmaps aligned with key segment and customer needs
  • Maintenance of current training, literature and Website content
  • Setting of list prices and discount structures
  • Internal and external technical training of the product line
  • Sales forecasting
  • Monitor industry trends concerning workpiece materials and machining methodologies
