Sr. Sourcing Manager – Remote

Can be located anywhere within 300 miles of a Kennametal facility. Will need to be able to travel 25% of the time.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Supports Kennametal’s Sourcing organization, leading various spend categories across 40+ manufacturing plants and business operations.
  • Key member of the Global Sourcing Team, assists the team with developing, implementing, communicating, and continuously improving Kennametal’s sourcing strategy.
  • Selects and develops top talent for Kennametal’s sourcing team, ensures that the team is focused on driving optimal value for Kennametal’s purchased spend with a strong customer-service mindset and a bias toward continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for the creation, deployment, and continuous improvement of commodity strategies.
  • Partners with the Global Sourcing Functional Excellence team to ensure that defined best practices & designated tools and procedures are comprehensively deployed across the region and that sourcing projects are flawlessly executed.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders in the Infrastructure, Metal Cutting businesses, and others as determined to coordinate business requirements and ensure a stable supply chain while delivering optimum value.
  • Global commodity management, partnering with the regional leaders to deliver an optimal balance between global leverage and regional flexibility.
  • Owns all supplier performance for the related category suppliers, partners with regional leaders and manufacturing to ensure that supplier performance is an enabler toward manufacturing excellence and end customer satisfaction.
  • Key Metrics & Outcomes include:  Ethics, Cost Reduction, Ariba e-Sourcing Spend, Touchless Purchase Orders and Invoices, DPO, Delivery Performance, Quality, and Inflation Mitigation

  • Data Management – Skilled in analytics; leverages systems like Power BI and raw data to organize and prioritize information for decision making.  Utilizing data and systems to conduct reverse auctions and develop supplier scorecards.
  • Project Management – Designs, plans, and manages projects to deliver value-added solutions within defined time and cost parameters.
  • Financial Analysis - Understands financial concepts including PPCA, PPV and other financial business processes.  Interprets financial data, analyzes cost structures, and determines financial impacts of decisions.
  • Talent Management – Leads effective teams and motivates talent through the strategic sourcing process.  Promotes accountability, drive for results while providing support and development opportunities.

    Education & Qualification

 

  • Education:          Bachelor’s Degree (RQ) in Supply Chain, Business, or Engineering; MBA (PF)
  • Experience:        10+ years in Strategic Sourcing (RQ) with 5+ years of Global Strategic Sourcing (PF), experience working with a manufacturing company.  Preference for experience in raw materials required to support industrial manufacturing and capital equipment sourcing.
  • Certifications:    CPSM (PF)
  • Proficiency:        MS Office, Excel, Word & PowerPoint (RQ), Access (PF), SAP (PF), Ariba (PF)
