Sr. Manager Supply Chain Excellence

Location - Remote

 

The Sr. Manager of Supply Chain Excellence is responsible for standardizing and optimizing supply chain processes, systems, parameters, data standards, and toolsets across the enterprise. In this role, you will collaborate with functional and operational stakeholders to develop targeted improvement plans for product availability, working capital optimization, and efficiency improvement. You will manage the highly-talented Global Supply Chain Excellence team and will define and lead Supply Chain transformation projects: delivering transformative business results within desired scope and budget. You will be a key leader and change agent within supply chain, transforming strategic objectives into programs/projects, and ultimately, results.  The Sr. Manager of Supply Chain Excellence is expected to be a hands-on leader: developing supply chain analyses, reports, analytics, models, and planning system configurations personally in addition to utilizing the Supply Chain Excellence team resources to ensure productive and high-quality outcomes.


Key Job Responsibilities

 

  • Lead in a way that improves performance toward Enterprise Key Results.  Lead and demonstrate the highest commitment to safety and integrity.
  • Partner with business segments and functional stakeholders, and lead Supply Chain Excellence activity within the company, championing standardization of best practices across the various operating models globally.
  • Develop, implement, and leverage repeatable Supply Chain Excellence methodologies and frameworks to rapidly deploy initiatives.
  • Establish and execute a transformation roadmap for future digital solutions and performance improvements to enhance effectiveness of Kennametal’s end-to-end Supply Chain.
  • Define, staff, and lead supply chain transformation projects working directly with leadership, the supply chain leadership team, partners, and stakeholders to define scope and drive deployment and implementation.
  • Ensure post-implementation review and monitoring of Supply Chain Excellence initiatives to ensure delivery to agreed plan and intended business ROI.
  • Investigate evolving industry and functional best practices, defining and implementing new capabilities and maturing processes through a strong project management approach.
  • Be the Supply Chain business owner of the key planning processes (for MTS and MTO supply streams): own the strategy, process, and performance measurement.
  • Drive the continuous improvement of an effective, robust S&OP process across the enterprise and business segments.
  • Act as a Supply Chain expert, mentor, partner and coach to stakeholders across the Supply Chain Leadership team and also to the business segment leaders and regional teams globally.
  • Refine and develop KPIs to assure holistic Supply Chain performance management (e.g., on-time performance, backorder levels, plan adherence, plan accuracy, days of supply / inventory turns, inventory risk and obsolescence).
  • Establish mechanisms to achieve Key Performance Indicators to drive business results, including leading indicators which will serve as early warning signs of problem performance.
  • Develop new models, reports, and analytics to be adopted globally to improve and automate supply chain planning and reporting.
  • Partner with Information Technology and leverage Supply Chain Analytics resources to drive data transparency and harmonization where necessary for reporting.
  • Work with Information Technology and Procurement (and other relevant stakeholders) to identify and standardize around a core set of information system solutions and data analytics platforms.
  • Drive data and system-driven culture for supply chain planning and execution. Establish cadences and indicators to assist in driving master data integrity within the ERP system to meet overall supply chain strategy.
  • Own the Kennametal Planning System platform of standard work and process documentation, and ensure it stays up to date as the supply chain transforms.
  • Coordinate Training and Certifications for Global Supply Chain talent; developing depth and expertise within the business at all levels of the organization, inclusive of APICS/ASCM certification.


Requirements

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field is required. Master of Business Administration (MBA) or other advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years in progressive supply roles in industrial and/or B2B supply chains.
  • Experience leading and running supply chain transformation projects and roadmaps covering operating model, process, and systems aspects. Project management certification is preferred.
  • Strong Change Management capability with demonstrated ability to lead large-scale change.
  • Consistent record for developing, training, and mentoring employee teams in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Knowledge of business systems and information technology managing complex supply chain activities.
  • Hands-on experience with supply chain advanced planning systems and analytics: developing / configuring supply chain planning models, systems, and analytics. Kinaxis experience / certification highly preferred. Experience with SQL, Power BI, and/or Tableau desired.
  • Experience using ERP systems, particularly usage of standard supply chain modules and reporting.  SAP experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong leader with the ability to influence and manage across a large geographically diverse organization.
  • Experience in Sales and Operations Planning process for multi-site/regional supply chains, including make-to-order and make-to-stock products, and very large number of products and materials.
  • Able to demonstrate significant improvements made to supply chain performance and metrics through personal leadership of projects and initiatives (inventory turns, inventory levels, on-time performance, supply chain efficiency, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to standardize and improve supply chain processes for tangible financial impact.
  • Good understanding of financial metrics and processes impacted by supply chain performance.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to lead through influence at all levels.
  • Strong communicator, capable of clearly articulating strategy through tactics with all organizational levels.
