Automation Engineer- New Albany ,IN.


Job Summary

This person researches, plans, and designs all mechanical aspects of machinery from individual components to complete assemblies. In working with teams, the engineer will design and support the manufacturing of custom capital equipment from customer order to customer site acceptance. Mechanically design equipment based on customer’s specifications and requirements in providing them an automated system integration. Analyzes product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine the design method and process. Provides technical information and guidance concerning manufacturing, materials, and process advantages and limitations. Utilizes knowledge of design for manufacturing in optimization of components and subsystems Prototype mechanism design and validation, as needed. Evaluates engineering data and test results to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications. Evaluates field installations and recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions. Creates Engineering BOMs and assembly drawings. Promotes teamwork and cooperation between areas of responsibility and other department Will travel approximately 25% of the time domestically and have limited international travel which requires a valid passport or the ability to obtain a passport. Must have a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Automation Engineering.


Key Job Responsibilities

· Prepare concept, design, and detail drawings using 3D CAD and other engineering tools.

· Prepare detailed lists of parts, detail drawings, and materials (bills of materials) in SAP as required to complete the project.

· Review and closely follow customer specifications and requirements for machines, tooling and automation during manufacture of machines, tooling and automation.

· Continuously improve engineering processes.

· Help develop strategies and processes to ensure on-time delivery of equipment, cost reduction opportunities and performance improvements.

· Apply a good working knowledge of designing and specifying components for high-force machines and handling systems.

· Understand manufacturing environment, including machining processes, workflow, assembly processes, cycle time and quality and delivery expectations.

Automation, Electrical, Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering Degree
