Auto Depack Operator

 

Job Summary

Separate and inspect sintered heats.

 

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Dis-assemble sintered heats.
  • Inspect for physical and metallurgical defects.
  • Separate individual orders and match to proper route cards.
  • Attach sintered sample to route card as appropriate. 
  • Separate good from scrap inserts placing scrap in appropriate receptacles. 
  • Perform all required documentation. Clean and re-coat sintering trays as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance on Curtain Coater as required.
  • Deliverer separated/sintered inserts to proper focus factory.  
  • Sinter Depack automation will include identifying what Production Orders coming out of Sintering are routed to Sinter Depack Automation. 
  • Operator will build a load of graphite trays on the in-bound conveyor belt of Sinter Depack. 
  • Production Orders will be scanned via a barcode reader in the correct order. 
  • Operators must have the ability to work with the Sinter Depack Automation Interface, troubleshoot, load/unload empty Manz Trays, inspect inserts, RFID read/write, Operate/Program the Keyence, and push standard work carts into and out of the automation cell.  
  • Sustain 6S standards through good housekeeping and execution of standard work. 
  • Follow all company safety procedures in completion of job duties. 
  • Verify that all safety related devices, machine guarding, signage are in place and functioning prior to releasing equipment for production. 
  • Wear required PPE for the job function.

  • Operator responsible for following inspection control plan, assuring product is processed according to proper routings, specifications and the quantity and style are correct.

  • Communicate safety, quality and product issues with supervisor, team members and across shifts.

Education, Knowledge, and Skills

  • Must have High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to perform basic math.
  • Ability to read and understand defect criteria, insert identification, blueprints, routings and operating procedures. 
  • Ability to use a personal computer and various software such as SAP MII, locate information in QMS, and on the Kennametal Intranet for Procedures, and work instructions.  
  • Ability to handle inserts with fingers without chipping.  
  • Understand proper use of 30X Microscope. 
  • Communicate with set-up persons, inspectors, supervisors, and managers. 
  • Must be reliable and dependable. 
  • Requires accuracy critical to customer satisfaction. 
  • Good math and logical thinking skills are essential to understand automated systems and isolate problems. 
  • Proficient knowledge of mechanics, computers, and basic math skills. 
  • Proficient in windows application, SAP MII software, access QMS to verify procedures and defect criteria. 
  • Proficient in blueprint reading, understand insert dimension and how to correlate to machine performance. 
  • Proficient in troubleshooting issues, determining root cause, and conducting repair. 
  • Proficient with various instruments and hand tools, microscopes, etc. 
  • Solid understanding of quality requirements, ability to make accurate decisions.
