Automated Machine Operator -Sinter Separate / DePack

Schedule: 3rd Shift

Job Summary

Operators will be responsible for running automation to depack inserts from sinter trays into Manz trays and troubleshoot the automation as needed. Automation will measure approximately 5-10 inserts per order within the machine and will require operator intervention if the product is out of spec. The operator must load full sinter tray orders and then unload full Manz tray orders from the machine.

Key Job Responsibilities

The operator will remove sinter trays from completed heat carts and load them into the machine. Scan correct product information. The operator will need to understand the measurements taken by the machine and interact with measurement software. Upon completion of the order group all Manz trays with applicable route cards in an outgoing queue area. Perform light maintenance tasks which include PM's and troubleshooting of machine inaccuracies. Manually sorting bin of spacers to be used in other process areas. Follow standard operating procedures to complete orders. Maintain production for multiple lines while performing other duties as assigned. Complete production records and data entry as required. Sustain 6S standards through good housekeeping and execution of standard work. Follow all company safety procedures in the completion of job duties. Verify that all safety-related devices, machine guarding, signage are in place and functioning prior to releasing equipment for production. Wear required PPE for the job function. Ensure incoming materials for tray coating meet requirements, including coating viscosity test. Set up the coating line to the specification for the tray type to be run. Process trays by curtain coating, spray coating, or hand rolling as required. Inspect finished tray quality, including coating thickness gauge. Thoroughly clean the line at the end of each run or as required to keep the coating from solidifying. Setup and adjust the tray coat line using the touchscreen interface.

Knowledge and Skills

Able to handle inserts with fingers without chipping. Understand proper use of 30X Microscope. Ability to communicate verbally. Able to read and understand routing, insert identification manual, and operating procedures. Must be reliable and dependable. Requires accuracy critical to customer satisfaction. Good math and logical thinking skills are essential to understand automated systems and isolate problems. Proficient knowledge of mechanics, computers, and basic math skills. Proficient in window applications, ability to navigate and teach controller new material masters. SAP MII software, access QMS to verify procedures and defect criteria. Proficient in blueprint reading, understand insert dimension and how to correlate to machine performance. Proficient in troubleshooting issues, determining root causes, and conducting the repair. Proficient with various instruments and hand tools, microscopes, etc. Solid understanding of quality requirements, ability to make accurate decisions.

Work Environment

The environment with controlled temperatures and dust collection systems. Safety glasses with side-shields required. Safety shoes required. Gloves, heat resistant gloves, cut resistant gloves when necessary.

Physical Demands

Approximately eight hours standing with two break opportunities per eight hour work period. Intermittent walking, reaching, sitting, stooping, and bending. Lifting insert trays weighing no more than thirty-three (33) pounds.

Problem Solving

Run orders according to the order selection procedure. Assignments and instructions communicated orally and carried out by standing guidelines. Routine problems solved by the operator using learned knowledge of insert styles and production processes. Operators work to standard operating procedures (oral and/or written instructions). Operators use Insert Defect Criteria on the Kennametal Intranet to determine acceptance/rejection of the product.

Education and Experience

Must have a High School diploma or GED
