Job Summary and Mission

Responsible for preparing clean, quality product and assembling into proper sintering heats.



Key Job Responsibilities

Selects sequence of orders to build heats according to open schedule for furnace while working within standard procedures and being aware of unique batch requirements.  Responsible for assuring product is processed according to proper specification and quantity and style are correct. Check product under microscope to determine what steps are needed to remove loose powder and flashing.  Brush and blow off one side of product then flip onto foam trays to clean the opposite side.  Flip back to clean tray and build heats to be sintered.  Scan correct production information. Scan into furnace build when complete. Press set-up, press operate as needed.


Key Job Accountabilities

Commitment to working safely and understand all safety procedures. Deviations in routine are handled according to operating procedures and/or work instructions. Operator responsible for following green insert control plan, assuring product is processed according to proper routings, specifications and the quantity and style are correct. Work to meet daily departmental production goals. Communicate safety, quality and product issues with supervisor, team members and across shifts.


Education, Experience and Skills

Able to perform basic math. Able to handle green (soft) inserts with fingers and tools without damaging inserts. Ability to read and understand defect criteria, operating procedures, insert identification and routings. Learn what powder grades, temperatures, and sintering cycles can be set up to load empty furnaces.  Match approved product with product not needing box test to make up heats.  Ability to use 30X microscope, weight scale and camera vision system to detect flaws listed in the green defect identification acceptance criteria. Ability to use vacuum system as needed.  Possess understanding of Insert Identification and Defect Criteria. Ability to work with furnace operators, and press operators.  Proficiency reached within eight (8) to twelve (12) months.


Environment with controlled temperatures and dust collection systems.  Safety glasses with side-shields and safety shoes required. Gloves, cut resistant gloves when necessary.
