Director of HR Shared Services

Headquarters location Pittsburgh, PA, but open to candidates working remotely in Eastern US

 

Job Summary 

Responsible for leading ongoing global HR operations, process improvement, standardizations of processes and vendor management in the regional HR Shared Service Centers including payroll, benefits, new hire onboarding, management of leaves, retirements, terminations, etc.   Responsible for the handling of employee and manager inquiries through the HR Regional Centers related to payroll and other policy compliance across the company as well as working with field management in situations of non-compliance.   Promotes and develops solutions to expand HR Shared Services to enhance Kennametal’s organizational efficiency and effectiveness, leveraging HR and HR Shared Services best practices.  Ensures appropriate oversight of governance processes ensuring all regulatory and external audit requirements are met.  Collaborates with HR Management team across the globe to transform the way we do business by sharing best practices.  Responsible for the management of scorecards, metrics, delegation of authorities, audit, operational and compliance requirements.  Works in partnership with HR Business Partners and HR Centers of Expertise to create and enable exceptional employee experiences.  Sets direction and vision of the team by developing capabilities and strengths of both the team and individuals to achieve business objectives and to enable them to thrive in the new HR Model.


Key Job Responsibilities

  • Manage a global team to execute against HR Shared Service (HRSS) goals and objectives.
  • Design and implement “best-in-class” practices in the delivery of high quality services to the businesses and to employees.
  • Lead and direct the identification and isolation of HRSS process and program issues.
  • Manage HR Shared Services issues and escalations.
  • Drive HRSS process improvements, automation and harmonization.
  • Review both quantitative and qualitative HRSS performance reports with senior management and HR governance.
  • Liaise with external vendors to facilitate the day-to-day performance of the vendors and their delivery, as well as their integration with the HRSS Center.
  • Partner with all business stakeholders to design and monitor internal Service Level Agreements (SLA’s).
  • Design and create strong processes in HRSS areas (workforce administration, payroll management, call centers, web portal, HR technology platforms, etc.).
  • Participate in technical project initiatives to assist with improving HR and HR-aligned technology (SuccessFactors, Case Management System, etc.) and business processes that will enhance the HR service delivery model.
  • Collaborate with the EHRLT, Global Process Team and HRIS to use data and statistical information to analyze, recommend and implement process and/or technology improvements that will enhance the service delivery model.
  • Work closely with the Global Process Team to ensure seamless assimilation of global processes into the Centers and partner on training needs to further develop capabilities within the Centers.
  • Assist in the tracking of SLA delivery metrics and ensuring vendor accountability.
  • Manage various initiatives to include project management, change management and HR communications.


Preferred Areas of Education, Certifications, and Skills: 

  • 10+ years of relevant HR experience directly managing / influencing teams of people in a global environment
  • A demonstrated ability to translate vision into action, manage multiple priorities, improve operations, and maintain positive and productive relationships while delivering results
  • A background in human resources is preferred with the ability to look across your own functional area as well as the entire company to determine intersections and hand-offs
  • Strategic vision and the ability to see where the business is headed, define opportunities and develop programs proactively
  • Demonstrated effectiveness leveraging technology and/or outsourced providers to drive down costs and increase effectiveness and efficiency
  • An understanding of how HR technology can add value to the organization and how to prioritize implementations that provide the highest ROI
  • A bachelor's degree, ideally in technology, human resources or finance, or an equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience
  • Ability to conceptualize, design and implement improvements in customer satisfaction and the customer experience.
  • Ability to lead and maintain a competent, motivated and qualified cross-functional staff.
  • Ability to demonstrate project and process management skills.
  • Effective communication with all organizational levels in a dynamic, fast paced, high pressure work environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective problem solving, decision making and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate a thorough understanding of supported business processes in all areas of HR/workforce administration/benefits, finance/payroll and call center management.
