Job Summary:

The Senior Analyst, IT Security / IAM supports the administration of systems key to Kennametal’s Compliance obligations related to ITAR and Export Controls, focused on NIST 800-171 and the CMMC.  In addition, the jobholder supports the ongoing efforts to improve control over Kennametal Identities and reduction of risk related to excessive access.


Key Job Responsibilities: 


International Traffic in Arms Regulations and Export Control Compliance:

  • Administer Kennametal’s dedicated file sharing and storage platform, ensuring continuous compliance with government requirements
  • Support adoption of NIST 800-171 and CMMC security controls, as applicable

Identity Management:


  • Contribute to the development of an identity strategy for Kennametal
  • Provision, track, and deprovision internet identities (PKI, domains)
  • Administer privileged identity and privileged access tools


Access Management:

  • Improve Kennametal’s technical environment by implementing Zero Trust security architectures
  • Reduce excessive access rights and help Kennametal enforce the principle of Least Privilege
  • Engage internal teams to adopt principles of Least Privilege
  • Provision, track, and deprovision business-to-business access (domain federation, vendors, and partners)
  • Support management of risk related to access


Subject Matter Expertise:


  • Serve as an SME, providing consulting to internal teams to improve management of identities and access
  • B.S in information assurance (or related field) with minimum of 4 years’ experience in Identity and Access Management
  • Practical experience with system administration topics (user provisioning, credential management, role-based access controls)
  • Experience with implementation of Zero Trust concepts
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills (English business fluent spoken and written)
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and perform detailed, complex analysis and data interpretation
  • Effective interpersonal skills, out-of-the-box thinking and ability to interface with all levels of staff
  • Ability to work under pressure and deal with ambiguous situations


Ideal qualifications, but not required:


  • Experience in a global corporation
  • Exposure/ understanding of Export Control and ITAR regulations (NIST 800-171, CMMC)
  • Experience in Identity and access management in Active Directory, Azure and AAD, including Privileged Access Management and Privileged Identity Management
  • Experience evaluating risks related to excessive access
  • Foundational understanding of insider risk as it related to access management
  • Understanding of components of Public Key Infrastructure and related administration tasks
  • Certification in IAM topics (ISACA ITCA, Certified Identity and Access Manager, or equivalent)

Education, Work Experience, Skills, Certificates:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5-8 years of relevant work experience required
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen
  • General security certifications such as: CISSP, GIAC, etc., that include identity theft and access concepts are preferred
