Thermal Spray & Hardfacing Field Service Engineer
Location – Remote anywhere in US


Job Overview:


Kennametal StelliteTM is a world renown manufacturer of hardfacing consumables and equipment. Our Thermal Spray Field Service Engineers work to support the hardfacing equipment group with the installation, calibration, troubleshooting, and repairing of our StarWeld PTA systems and JetKote HVOF systems. Field Service Engineers primarily work at customer’s worksites (50-75% travel domestic and international) and are tasked with ensuring equipment uptime, customer training and equipment troubleshooting in the field.


Anticipated breakdown of job duties:

  • 50-75% off-site customer work including installation, calibration, troubleshooting, training and repairing of PTA & HOVF equipment.
  • 10-15% in-house work including thermal spray equipment assembly, repair, calibration and/or service work.
  • 10% telephone support, in office, solving technical problems with customers
  • 10% assisting engineering with design/changes to thermal spray equipment and/or components



4-year engineering degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or 2 - 3 years relevant experience.



  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, including basic wiring diagrams
  • Work with minimal supervision to complete assigned tasks exercising independent judgement.
  • Work from machine and equipment manuals, schematics and other technical documentation.
  • Ability to use common PLC software programs in field testing, troubleshooting and programming equipment
  • Perform and record repairs & calibrations made to equipment.
  • Must have initiative to report or fix if possible, any potential problems that may arise
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office based computer programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to lift 30lbs.
