Machine Maintenance Technician - Senior

Roanoke Rapids, NC

Shift: 12-hour nights, 6:45 pm - 7:15 am (2|2|3 schedule)

 

Job Responsibilities: 

 

  • Repair equipment in accordance with standard engineering practices and original equipment manufacturers' OEM technical manuals.
  • Perform troubleshooting, diagnosing, repair, and maintenance of all manufacturing and associated service equipment identifying the root cause of the problem.
  • Maintain pneumatic and hydraulic systems controls and components. Rebuild all machine accessories, pumps, motors, dressing units, and fixtures.
  • Complete scheduled electrical/electronic overhaul/rebuild of equipment, including rewiring and replacement of motors, encoders/resolvers, electronic printed circuit boards, proximity switches, micro switches, relays, timers etc. Also include calibration and testing upon completion of an overhaul. Working from prints, sketches, schematics, vendor equipment manuals, or verbal instructions to maintain equipment in adjustment, aligning, and fitting.
  • Preventive Maintenance, including inspection, repair, and lubrication of all manufacturing equipment and processes and facility equipment following a plant-wide preventive maintenance program.
  • If applicable, provide maintenance for plumbing, and HVAC equipment as required.
  • Use equipment manuals or verbal instructions to maintain intricate equipment in adjusting, aligning, and fitting. Utilize basic CNC processing and test equipment in diagnosing and correcting defective components.
  • Operate and repair machine tools by welding, and fabricating sheet metal items as needed.
  • Make brackets, and accessories, and repair parts as needed.
  • Review all work orders, and order supply parts electronically.
  • Calibrate manufacturing equipment and processes and facility equipment in accordance with OEM suggested guidelines Install new equipment: disassemble, relocate, and reinstall existing equipment per current electrical and plumbing guidelines.
  • Acts as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience. Interact with staff in all departments of the plant, as well as outside vendors and service engineers.
  • Attend technical training sessions to upgrade skills and knowledge of increasingly sophisticated equipment and processes.

 

Qualifications: 

 

  • Associate degree or equivalent in industrial maintenance and/or relative discipline
  • 3-5 years of maintenance repair experience in a manufacturing facility is required.
  • In lieu of experience licenses, certifications will be considered.
  • Ability to read and comprehend Schematics, Multi-Meter & Ammeter Utilization, 3 phase and Single-phase motor control, PLC & Ladder Logic programming & understanding (AB SLC-500 & MicroLogix, Control Logix, RS Logix), Soldering, Power tool usage capability, Welding: Arc and/or TIG, Pipe fitting; Soldering/Threading, Power Transmission applications knowledge (Gearboxes, sprockets, & Belts), Pneumatics/Hydraulics.
