Buyer Planner - Manufacturing

Location - Solon, Ohio

Job Summary  

Under the direction of the Materials Manager, the Sourcing Analyst (Buyer) position is directly involved with the management and support of direct materials and services to support plant operations. These work processes include Spend Data Management, Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Management, Tactical Buying & Catalog Management, Day-to-Day Purchasing and Accounts Payable. Following the Kennametal purchasing procedures, represent the plant towards production material suppliers, including raw materials as well as services supporting production processes. Furthermore, the Sourcing Analyst (Buyer) is representing the plant toward corporate sourcing and support all efforts of the corporate organization to improve sourcing function performance. The Sourcing Analyst (Buyer) is in daily contact with suppliers to identify potentials and issues as early as possible and resolve before escalation.

Key Job Responsibilities 

• Places purchase orders based on purchase requisitions and ensure the order management, in exceptions based on demands.
• Tracks on-time delivery (OTD) performance of goods and service, quality related issues, solving of exception messages and overdue orders.
• Ensures material availability for production as well as on time completion of outsourced services to support 95% OTD goal
• Operates or supports an active supplier management scheme by passing on information, work with commodity team to identify potential savings.
• Maintain and manage all schedule agreements concerning Min Order Qty and Safety Stock (SS) and notify Sourcing where it pertains to SAP contracts, outline agreements or major shifts with suppliers.
• Performs material availability analyses, ongoing control, adjustment of MRP parameters and master data as well as expediting purchase and supply sources.
• Monitors raw material inventory, service levels and undertaking intelligent inventory management to guarantee high supply levels with minimum inventories in a cost-effective way.
• Maintains highly transparent communication to both internal and external parties and interfaces during entire process time.
• Analyzes future supply shortages and investigate remedies with the supplier, planning, production, quality, and supporting functions. 
• Actively contributes to cooperation with all others involved and with interface partners and forwarding all relevant information and pointing out process problems.
• Escalate and present situation to Manager if abovementioned measures are undertaken and unsuccessful.
• Develop Action Plan with Suppliers to improve performance in financial, lead time, on time and quality aspects
   

Education, Work Experience, Skills, Certificates Required

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent additional work experience; CPP preferred
• 3-5 years relevant working experience preferably in manufacturing industry
• Good communication skills with both internal and external parties
• Detailed orientated & Awareness of compliance & Passionate for learning
• SAP system operation experience is preferred
• Proficient in MS Office
• Delivers results with minimal supervision
