The purpose of the Quality Engineer at the Kennametal – Solon facility is to provide support to the Quality Department and Manufacturing Floor. The Quality Engineer shall provide support to achieve the overall goal which is to enhance customer satisfaction and continually improve.

 

Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Engineering or minimum of six years of experience in a metalworking quality engineering environment, with full working knowledge of Quality Systems, A.I.A.G. or Six Sigma methods, Calibration/Metrology techniques, Metallurgical failure & analysis, Quality Auditing techniques (external and internal).

 

Must be knowledgeable of ISO 9000 Quality Management System requirements as it relates to all of the above.

 

Responsibilities
 

Deals with Sales and Engineering on APQP activities for new programs and products
Working knowledge of GD&T and gaging methodology. CMM programming capability a plus.Zeiss equipment and Calypso software.

Work with Program Managers and Process Engineers to co-ordinate and prepare sample submission packages, updates and maintain the FMEA’s, Process Flow diagrams and Process Control Plans
 

Ability to communicate with suppliers & field sales on quality concerns.

Familiar with SAP and QM Module.

Conduct investigations on non-conformance and recommends corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.
 

Work with Manufacturing to solve in-house quality concerns, review of nonconforming product, recommend disposition

Familiar with the Cost of Quality and proven control or reduction of related costs.

Any other duties as assigned by the QA Manager
