Flexible Day Shifts:  4 x 10hr. Shifts- “Mon to Thurs” or “Tues to Fri”– either way 3 day weekends to enjoy all the outdoor recreation Vancouver Island has to offer.

 

  • Also available conventional “Mon to Fri”  40 hr work week.
  • All shifts offer overtime opportunities.

Education: 

Journeyman Red Seal Millwright, successful completion of a 4-year millwright apprenticeship program preferred.

Will consider 2nd or 3rd-year apprentice. 

 

Job Description and Duties

 

  • Prioritize safety and work within compliance of established environmental, health and safety standards, including LOTO and JSA procedures and WSBC reg’s.
  • Participate in daily toolbox and safety team meetings and take part in corrective actions on safety work orders and safety tracking.
  • Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot all plant areas and plant machinery and building equipment, and re-locate and move heavy equipment and parts.
  • Perform predictive, preventative, commissioning and decommissioning operations and vibration analysis and oil analysis functions.
  • Read blueprints, schematic drawings, and service manuals to determine work procedures and perform measuring and layout use of dials, micrometers, vernier calipers and lasers.
  • Service hydraulic and mechanical presses and powder material handling, including process pumps and vacuum pumps, fans, blowers, process piping and valves, tanks/sumps/vessels, compressors, conveying systems/dust collection, robotics and automated equipment, HVAC, boilers and furnaces, all types of grinders, lathes, milling machines.
  • Service fluid power systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, and vacuum systems.
  • Service mechanical power transmission components and systems including prime movers, shafts, bearings and seals, couplings, clutches and brakes, chain and belt drive systems, gear systems to precise tolerances.
  • Operate and maintain rigging equipment cranes/hoists/lifts.
  • Perform SMAW, GMAW, GTAW welding process, CNC waterjet/plasma cutting, fabrication design and oxy acetylene torch work.
  • Machine shop duties/design on manual and CNC lathes, milling machines, surface grinders.
  • Prioritize work according to production demands and major project coordination.
  • Research, test and develop modern technology, equipment, and maintenance practices.
  • Obtain quotes from contractors for work to be performed and/or parts to be purchased.
  • Use CMMS computerized maintenance system to track work orders and preventative maintenance schedules and order parts and materials.
  • Use of Solidworks and AutoCAD and use of 3D printer.
  • Help train and mentor mechanical apprentices and other tradesmen.
  • Safely operate forklift, AWP/scissor lifts, company truck.
  • May be required to other shifts/overtime as required.

 

 

Education, Training &/or Experience:

  • Journeyman Certificate of IP Qualification in the trade of Industrial Mechanic/Millwright (Canadian recognized) preferred
  • Grade 12 or GED equivalent (Canadian recognized)
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s License in province of BC.
  • Forklift ticket, AWP/Scissor lift certification.
  • Communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
  • Be able to perform lifting duties as required.
  • Have good interpersonal, organization and teamwork skills.
  • Be self-motivated and be able to work under limited supervision.
  • May be encouraged to pursue training in a complementary trade/field to become multi-skilled

 

Hourly wage  $38.28/hr with OT opportunities
