Key Account Specialist - Metal Cutting Tooling

Location - Prefer candidate in Wilmington, NC or surrounding area. Will be supporting territory with radius of 2 hours drive around Wilmington

 

Kennametal has an exciting opportunity available for a Key Account Specialist supporting our metal cutting tooling line. This role with partner with some of our current customer accounts to provide solutions that allow them to manufacture parts and products more effectively as well as discover, develop, and build new accounts within the designated territory, working with our current channel partners. The role is responsible for driving sales growth with established customers by managing customer relationship, providing technical direction, and increasing productivity for our customer. This position is a field sales role that will be responsible for calling on customer accounts within a defined geographic area where you will be spending up to 80% of your time visiting customers in your assigned territory. The territory is all within driving distance and very little overnight travel is required. Kennametal does provide a company vehicle and pay for all fuel to support the driving required for the role. The other 20% of your time would be working remotely from home to prepare for your customer visits, respond to emails, join team meetings, attend remote training, etc. The position offers a competitive base salary plus a bonus or sales incentive plan and benefits that start day one.

 


 

Key Job Responsibilities

 

  • Manage established customer relationships and build new ones.
  • Maintain existing business and grow share of wallet with assigned customer accounts within assigned geography. 
  • Leverage CRM to track activities and NOVO
  • Determine key objectives required to win and resource requirements/risks
  • Drive E-Commerce applications
  • Develop and maintain deep technical knowledge on a particular end-market and stay up-to-date on latest industry trends to continually improve customer productivity.
  • Provide technical expertise on products (e.g., product lifecycle obsolescence), customer programs (e.g., product upgrades) and customer cost savings initiatives.
  • Maintains intense market knowledge of competitors and market gaps.
  • Support Sales Engineers by providing technical expertise when closing new customers.
  • Coordinate with Inside Sales rep(s) and Sales Support to grow sales within assigned accounts plus troubleshoot customer gaps as needed.
  • Understand the difference in the company’s products vs. competitor’s offerings and provide expert advice on the advantages of the company’s products in specific applications.
     

 

Requirements

 

  • Degree in Business and or Manufacturing and or Engineering preferred. 
  • 5-10 years of related experience preferred.
  • Experience working in or calling on Aerospace Industry preferred
  • CMP Program certificate preferred. (Certified Metal cutting Professional).

  • Hands on experience with Metal Cutting Tooling in manufacturing environment preferred
