Position Title:       Machine Operator-Graf/Hone

Department:  Production
Shift:  Second (3pm-11pm)

Job Summary:

Set up and operate machines.  Must be able to use measuring equipment and instruments and stay within specified tolerances.  Must have ability to maintain production rates and read complex manufacturing prints.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Perform all activities in a 100% safe manner and adhere to all KMT EHS guidelines.
  2. Read manufacturing prints.
  3. Measure tools using appropriate measuring equipment/instruments.
  4. Set up machine to manufacture tools/blanks.
  5. Change Hone Media as required
  6. Understand tool geometry.
  7. Manufacture tools to specified tolerances.
  8. Make machine adjustments when necessary.
  9. Operation of Graf Hone.


Education and Experience

  • High School Degree or GED.
  • Manufacturing experience of 1 - 3 years.

Basic Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Basic troubleshooting and decision-making skills.
  2. Applies experience and skills to complete assigned work within own area of expertise.
  3. Complete all necessary documentation, electronic data entries, and communications accurately and timely.
  4. Understand written instructions, willing and able to communicate those instructions to others.
  5. Read process instructions and drawings and recognize/attend to details.
  6. Adhere to and follow all company safety policies and procedures to assure commitment to a 100% safe work environment.
  7. Support the Lean Enterprise initiatives and continuously strive to improve customer satisfaction through improved quality, reduction in waste, and improved productivity.
  8. Knowledge of shop math.
  9. Interpersonal skills with good communication working in a team environment.
