Braze/Manufacturing Operator

Shift: 3rd

 

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Automatic and/or hand braze carbide tips through electrical induction.

This position works under the supervision of the Supervisor - Manufacturing, or in his/her absence, the designee. Duties are performed without constant supervision. Assignments are made daily and results are reviewed daily or as needed.

 

This position requires:

(1) a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma;

(2) completion of basic math, blueprint reading and gauge-reading training; and Six months of manufacturing experience is preferred.

(3) ability to understand written and oral instructions and communicate with supervisors and coworkers.

Physical Demand: Lifting up to 50lbs

 

ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Safety: Perform pre-operation checks for both individual machines and work area. Perform safety inspections required for individual machines and associated equipment.
  • Production:De-burr and clean recesses of steel bodies.
  • Applies flux to tips and places braze material on surface of joint.
  • Set-up and operate conventional braze machines and assemble carbide tips to steel bodies.
  • Work with engineering or supervisor to help establish new braze processes.
  • Perform grinding, blasting, dipping, labeling, reporting, packing as needed to support production.
  • Support other production activities as needed. (ie, T&D, Maintenance)
  • Quality: Inspect parts to meet established ISO requirements
  • Delivery: Support functions and change-overs to meet established due dates
  • Cost: Responsible for tracking and problem solving of the materials used and efficient equipment use to reduce cost.
  • Inventory: Responsible for management of WIP components (i.e., carbide, braze, flux and steel bodies). Perform cycle counts as specified.
  • Lean: Participate in lean events and utilize lean processes in daily duties
  • TPM: Perform daily required TPM on associated equipment
  •  Perform daily required 5S activities for work area
  • Metrics: Perform daily activities associated with gathering and posting established metrics
  • Data: Accurate and timely recording of required data (i.e. Production, quality etc)
